Also there was a tourist... read more The pinxos were good but something is strange for me. If youre in the centre of bilbao, why laugh at tourists that cant speak spanish? Also there was a tourist there when I was there and he asked for one of each pintxos. Obviously like us they left their main meal for the evening. The guy behind the bar gave him 3 items and in spanisb said what you asked for is too much ... the bewildered guy with his gf just sat down and drank his wine. At that point we left to find somewhere else.

It was not yet too crowded inside and we thus had a chance to take a closer look at their array of pintxos. We both ordered a glass of Crianza and selected a couple of these little snacks with jamón, mushrooms, peppers, and the like... They were delicious and we decided to find us a table and continue with the Crianza and some of the fish raciones . To make a long story short we came back the next evening to share a platter of Jamón Iberico followed by a portion of Iberico Secreto and Iberico Pluma. The pork came in pink roasted slices, tender and juicy and melting in your mouth. It was one of the best meat dishes I 've ever had if not the best... And while having reduced meat consumption a lot in recent years I felt glad not to have turned into a vegetarian. The camarera was sweet. I still don 't know whether she really did not speak English or just pretended it in order to have fun with my broken Spanish. At any rate we got what we wanted and would love to come back any time.
