There is obviously plenty of choice and often it is n... read more Second day in Bilbao and we were looking for somewhere for dinner, in the 'Casco Viejo ', the 'Old Town '. There is obviously plenty of choice and often it is not easy to differentiate. However after some discussion we settled on the 'Gorbea '. The restaurant gets mixed reviews regarding the quality of the food and the 'inattentive ' service. Firstly, I thought the service was fine, I can see why some might think it slow but we were out for a relaxed dinner, enjoying the food and company, and were in no hurry. Secondly, the food, well, I thought it was good. I started with ham/cod croquettes, no shocks there and certainly tasty enough. I followed this with an 'entrecot ' which was well cooked, to my taste. Finally, for dessert, 'Escocés Scottish Coffee ' (well, how could I resist? , perhaps a touch too much alcohol! The rest of the group enjoyed their food and the decent crianza that accompanied the dishes. Perhaps the restaurant has issues with staff and/or cooking but, if so, then we struck lucky!
