The cover wasn't well washed, until I could see food remains. The vegetable meatballs froze inwards, we found a piece of plastic in the Catalan cream and there were food remains below the table. But the worst thing was that we felt deceived by receiving the account – it turned out to be 25 euros per person, and that when we used to pay 15 euros for the same level of food in the Basque country. of the unexpected things in the account – the most difficult was the load of three entries, while we had asked for one. Anyway, you can find a multitude of good restaurants with vegan options in bilbao we recommend you to jump to the goikar.

The food was well prepared and presented. The bad ones: The service was slow although we were the only guests in the place. The silverware/cutlery was not clean, you could see remainders of food on it. The ”falafel” were frozen inside, we found a piece of plastic in the ”crema catalana” and there were food from previous guests under the table. The worst was that we felt ripped off when the check came in – 25 Euro per person, when we are used to 15 Euro for the same food experience in the Basque country. Of the ”extras” on the check the most brutal was that we were charged for 3 starters when we had ordered only one. Bottom line, you can find many good restaurants with vegan options in Bilbao, and we recommend to skip Goikar Elorrieta.

It is sometimes mentioned as a great place in Bilbao for vegetarians and vegans and it has a beautiful website with tempting dishes and menus, but it is all fake. The place is in the outskirts of the town and in fact rather shabby. The menu presented once there has little resemblance to the website, and the dishes served (we ordered one vegan and one fish) were literally inedible. We left after just touching the food. For this we payed a hefty 50 euros. An absolute disaster. Don't go there.
