after a hike on the hermannsweg. there is a very nice small beer garden. the service was very friendly and attentive. all dishes were delicious and freshly prepared. we had carvings, pfifferlings with bratkartoffen and pork medallions in the speckmantel with mischievous and old beersosse. I found it a little old-fashioned inside. View all feedback.
We were on business and have taken our dinner and some refreshing beers to us. we were kindly served, eating was very good and the value for money was also appealing.
We were staying at this hotel, and our first night in-country, we did not have the energy to seek out alternate dining choices, so we ate downstairs. So glad we did! I ordered zander fillet, outstanding! Best treatment of this fish I have ever had. Wide selection of dishes, great wine list. We never had room for dessert so cannot comment. Prices very reasonable for the quality. We ended up eating here 3 of our 7 nights, so you can imagine it was very, very good. Breakfast was good, too.
This restaurant is independent from the hotel. The hotel itself is nice, but the Restaurant was shocking. I asked for a Schnitzel with asparagus and mushroom sauce. I received a plate with asparagus and boiled potatoes, a side dish with 2 small pieces of Schnitzel overcooked and the sauce separately, as requested. I complained the asparagus was too stringy, I could barely cut it with my knife - it was clearly undercooked. I love asparagus and eat it daily on my trips during this season. They replaced it with the same type of portion I had before - undercooked. I only ate the potatoes and the Schnitzel - no asparagus. The manageress came to see me and loudly said that out of 1500 dishes I was the only complaint! She said she would send me 3 spears overcooked and see what happens. They too were stringy, I never received the other spears. I was charged the full amount of €12 just for the asparagus. I was treated rudely, I was then ignored, I was offered no second drink and no dessert, I was given the bill - by then I was too tired to argue. Breakfast was unattended. No tables were set. None of the used tables were cleared, not even after I sat there for 40min. I can understand this could happen in a cheap motel/ hotel environment with self service but not in this well rated hotel. The manageress was there again and offered to set my table after I had been seated and eating for 20 minutes?
