The charming host took time to explain the menus we search, and we were delighted with the food and service. the total experience was first class and we would r... read more The charming host took time to explain the menus we search, and we were delighted with the food and service. the total experience was first class and we would recommend to anyone to seek qualitatiw high quality food presented with style and panache. great atmosphere in. a timeless city square. a real surprise as we did not know what to expect in bethune and we strongly advise you to visit or visit calais. plus good value for money. perfect end for our holiday.

Sta... read more Average is unfair to this small restaurant and 3.5 stars would be more appropriate. We called on spec choosing this over a recommendation across the square. Starter of goats cheese tart didn’t have the firm pastry I’d expected and the fillet of haddock small and...just overcooked. The cheeseboard comprised the contents of the mousetrap in size with no choice and dessert was a fondant which didn’t quite make it. One friend’s cod in cabbage revealed a beautiful shiny piece of fish just past translucent but another’s duck fillet was hardly pink even after return to the grill. The beer was ok and the Chardonnay from Ardeche an experience worth repeating. I’d happily give the place another try with other menu items. Not least the cod!

I had duck breast, cooked to perfection, and other courses were equally excellent. a visit
