Matchbox was able to modify our reservation from 4 people to 5 only 20 minutes before we were to arrive. We were seated in a roomy booth that could have comfortably sat 8 people. The waitstaff were patient in taking our orders and accommodating in providing us with separate bills. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Overall, a wonderful experience! What User doesn't like about Matchbox:
Had the seared tuna salad. Tuna was extremely spicy and rubbery could not eat. Asked for dressing on the side- dressing came on it. Was not greeted by host or said good bye. Slow to be served initially. We used to eat at Matchbox in DC ALLL the time. Food has gone downhill while prices have increased. View all feedback.

I ordered an item from the menu but what was brought to me was cooked completely differently from what the menu described. I asked to switch to another item, but when the bill came, both were charged. I was with a few friends, and two other orders were also incorrectly charged. We had to wait half an hour to get the bill corrected. The restaurant was very noisy. It was not possible to have a conversation with a few people around the table. So, over all it was not what I had expected. This location of Matchbox also has lower rating than other locations.
My husband and I used to eat lunch or dinner at the Matchbox in Bethesda off Woodmont Avenue at least twice a month. A few months ago I ordered red wine with my dinner, which I do often. The server asked me if I wanted a specific brand of wine, I assumed he was letting me know the house wine they served, so I said that was fine. When we got the check the glass of wine had cost $28, more than our food. We were very upset and didn't go back for a few months, but decided the other day to give it another try. We brought our dog, so I went inside and asked if we could be seated in their outdoor section. The host let me know they were not offering outdoor seating. It was a nice day, and there were not many people inside the restaurant. We went to another one of the many restaurants in the area and were seated outside, no problem. My husband and I both enjoyed Matchbox, but don't see any reason to return. The food isn't good enough to get past their poor service.
Had lunch with a friend. Both of us ordered salads that were approx $24 each, which I think is high for lunch and for what we received. I ordered a glass of wine, priced at $17 or $18 (again, a bit high) for a 5oz pour, and our server asked if I wanted 8oz (priced at $24). I said just the 5oz pour, and that is what she brought. But when I got home (we were talking, so I didn't pay close attention to the bill) I saw that I had been charged $24 for the 8oz glass. The place was not at all busy, so I don't understand the reason for the error. Very disappointed.
Overall pretty good. Nice happy hour specials. The patio slammer and pink daiquiri were great. Wings and ribs hit the spot. The pizza was good for MD (prefer New Haven style). Definitely not my fave but fun combos recommend the q special. The server was slightly judgey when we wanted to order a small pizza after two happy hour apps.
