La Bocona - Bessans

As part of family skiing, group of 4 families, great local cuisine and service. excellent selection of Chesefondues and gratins.

Excellent eating, good quality and plentiful portions. personal really friendly. we were all pleasantly surprised by the size of the portions and the appropriate parlors.

We ate in the evening during a stay in bessans. the place is beautiful and the service was friendly, without English menu they had to translate and explain and did it with much geduld. it serves dishes of local regional cuisine that. a quantity of cheese and pork fat (lardon) used with very dominant taste. eating is tasty, but heavy and the portion is huge, so either come with a very big appetit or share a dish.

We ate here after our cross country ski marathons both days and the food was plentiful and delicious. The menu is extensive with not only great French dishes and Italian dishes generally but great local dishes too and portions are generous. Word of warning the...large portions of pasta are large like a platter! All the dishes are fresh and delicious. My veggie friend enjoyed is fare and I enjoyed my steak and our other friend enjoyed his platter of fresh pasta large enough for a family of 5. The next time I had a lovely crepe but the fondue at the other table looked wonderful too.

On a journey in the alps over this place. had a very peasant lunch of salad with local meat and cheese. hard to blame. apparently popular among the locals, which is a good sign.
