We came across the restaurant by chance while visiting the area. The setting is idyllic and it was sunny and quiet and the river next to it was picture postcard. The service and food did not let us down everything was excellent we...sat outside in the shaded terrace we had lamb and it was really well cooked. Highly recommend. View all feedback.
What Marianne Devaux doesn't like about La Guinguette de Bessan:
Beautiful setting overlooking a wider stretch of the Herault, friendly welcome. We were four adults and a 1 year old. We arrived at 8.30 without booking and were swiftly seated. No problem about bringing a baby and ideally seated next to another family not inconveniencing...More View all feedback.
The restaurant is located next to the river Herault. All tables are outside, shadow is provided by the big trees. A good selection of dishes and cheap. Be ready to wait a little when the restaurant is busy.
We have visited this restaurant for a few years has covered terrace. Very reasonable menu at 14,50€. The a la carte is also reasonable. Friendly staff in rustic surroundings. Worth a visit.
We just passed for a glass of wine and a starter and stayed in a fairytale landscape in the afternoon at a late summer afternoon. It is a mystical place with very positive energy, from attentive waiters, good wine and good food closest to the Herault river, where you can rent canoes or standup paddle.
We were here by boat 3 years ago and now returned by boat agan. Many improvements to the overall amenity with new management now two years established. Lunch was busy, very busy but the service didn't suffer. Welcome was warm and inviting. Sadly seated next...to a table of smokers with no regard for other diners we asked to move tables and were accommodated easily. When will France ban all smoking in areas people are eating inside or out one wonders). The menu du jour was good and good value at 14.50 for 3 courses. My wife couldn't manage desert so my coffee came free which was a nice gesture. Local wines were reasonably priced and the setting delightful. Simple food done well and without pretence, little wonder it was full of locals.
