If you are looking for a joke to waste your money by all means go.We were fooled by the high ratings etc and decided to try this. The only option is the set menu starting at 80 fr depending how many courses you have.The dishes were a joke. An egg with spinach, a piece of foie gras, a piece of smoked salmon etc.If you want to flash your money to impress a young girlfriend, ok. But otherwise don’t bother.
We had dinner at the wine&sein and chose the full 7 course menu. Every course was delicious and well worth the money. Daniela was a excellent host. Overall one of the best places to eat in Bern!
We visited Wein Sein in November and had a great dinner. We reserved well ahead and on the Wednesday we visited the restaurant was full. So a reservation is most likely necessary. The menu is a set menu with multiple courses. The food was absolutely extraordinary, as so were the wines.
A wonderfull night on a terrasse, in the middle of the old town of the Swiss Capital. The 5 courses dinner menu was most surprising and out of this world. Every single dish was delicious. We even got a small good bye gift, one small jam pot each!
Food: Very creative and special menu. You can choose to go for three to five courses. On top you get several small surprises from the kitchen. I would guess they change the menu constantly, but I don't know how often been there the first time.We went for the five course menu and did not regret it. Highlight for me: A lot of unusual ingredients, components and compositions, beautiful harmonies. If you are a picky eater (my pizza, my steak, my fries and nothing else) than this might not be the place to go. Wine: I'm a label and points slave, hence, I was rather sceptical reading online that they go for small and not famous names, leaving big icons on the sidelines. Too often you're left with some strange hipster bio spiritual vegan unfiltered natural hamster wines which are often not even drinkable. Not here! A very nice selection focused on old world wines: A wide selection of Swiss wines, with a handful of choices from every important regions in Europe. Most wines rather young but enough choices with some age on the hips. The sommelier knows its game! We went for a Swiss Pinot (Irene Grünenfelder) and a nicely aged CDP (Marcoux, 2005).Location: Amazing. An old underground cellar, refurbished, modern without destroying the charm of the cellar, very elegant and cozy at the same time.Service: Our waitress and sommelier was great. Very friendly, very knowledgeable, attentive, open and even funny. We had a perfect night sharing our passion for wine (and good food) . Thank you for that!Value for money: In my opionion, very good. Five fine dining courses for slightly below 100. is good (Zurich is more expensive). Wine prices more than fair.
