We ate here twice during our visit to Berlin. Everything we ordered was tasty, especially the half duck, delicious. Very reasonable prices, excellent service.Good wine, and of course beer. Located in my favorite area in Berlin, in Nikolaiviertel. Rcommended. View all feedback.
What Norman Bernhardt doesn't like about Zum Paddenwirt:
Great location, you can sit comfortably outside. Unfortunately, everything was very careless and dirty. There were only 2 tables, but the tables were only towed. Even at our table, used napkins were lying and remained. The menus were extremely tapped and greasy and sticky. The operation was also not distinguished by excessive courtesy. The flower boxes were dried. Too bad, could be really nice. The snack we had was o... View all feedback.
This restaurant is a great local German flavor place to enjoy a quiet dinner. Wonderful food and generous quantities. The Haxe mit Sauerkraut was excellent as was the Ente (duck) with red cabbage and potato dumplings. Great beer on tap as well. Do not miss the apple strudel with lots of real schlagsahne (whipped cream). Reasonable prices too! Highly recommended! Try it if U are in Berlin and near St Nicolas Church.
My wife and I went here twice while vacationing in Berlin. The food was great, the portions were huge, and the service was friendly and well paced. Bravo! I recommend the Robber 's Plate (rump steak, sausage, bacon rib, potatoes, salad). This place is clean and cozy as well, if your 'e in Berlin check it out...
Spent about an hour on this terrace while waiting for my wife. Drank a couple of very nice beers (black beer, not unlike Guinnees). When my wife joined me, we ordered some little German dishes: Berliner meatball, and salmon on crispy deep fried rosti (and with horse radisch) Very lovely taste this salmon. The meatball was OK and well made, but not to our taste.
After reading the great reviews we decided to visit this restaurant. It has a very pleasant atmosphere. Almost feels like someone's home but that's all there is to the place. The service is extremely slow. After waiting by the door for about minutes for...someone to show up we just chose a table to seat and helped ourselves with menus from a neighbouring table that had been left to be cleaned. After waiting about we finally managed to order and after that had to wait another hour before we got the food. When we did we just laughed my partner had the robbers plate. There was a pork medallion about the size of a coin, a small sausage and a mountain of fried onions and potatoes swimming in grease. Maybe a good place to go for a beer but keep away from the food
