I regularly go to Südblock, I like the slow-food concept, their huge terrace, the different vegges/vegan options they have: Flammküche, chili sin carne, bakes potatoes with toppings... not a big fan of their cakes in general, but the staff is always super nice and the prices are really okay
In the south block there are various vegan options. above all the curryworst I recommend. the vegan cakes offered are always delicious and the atmosphere in the region is very pleasant.
The menu is not all vegan or vegetarian, however, there are a lot options to choose from. They are all marked. The French Fries are amazing and worth trying. The crowd of this place is very diverse, which makes it one of the nicest places to hang out in Berlin, especially in summer, when one can enjoy the garden.
I had the kizza, which was a huge and delicious thin crust pizza with many sweets. the vegan sour cream and pesto topping was delicious. I want to go back and try more of their options
If you like restaurants with a lively atmosphere then I can recommend this place it has music in the evenings and whilst inside can get a bit loud, there is a large well-lit outdoor seating area. It's also possible to reserve a table. The menu is varied and whilst meat is served, vegan options are clearly marked (veggie options are not), and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about either the quality of the food or the portion sizes I had a huge vegan flatbread which had so many vegetables on it that they were almost falling off. And for a capital city I found the prices to be extremely good value around 5 Euros for a main course. My only criticism is that I had to wait quite a long time to be served, but as I was in a large group I can excuse this. EDIT: Visited again in Oct. 2015. The baked potatoes are great, but all the staff members present this time were very rude and I felt that my partner and I were not welcome. This is a real change from one year earlier hopefully it was just an off day. Updated from previous review on Friday September 19, 2014

I had a plate with vegan curry sausage, pommes and salad. Not super cheap, but very tasty and absolutely saturating.
Long waiting for the currywurst, but it was very good. They only take cash, which was unconvenient for us.

This was my worst experience in Berlin. When we got there, there were people outside and inside, it had a chill vibe which was EXACTLY what we were looking...
Laid back bar with typical Kreuzberger atmosphere. Check out the regular events taking place here too.

Took a group of 15-20 English-speaking fathers in Berlin here on a Friday night. The biergarten handled the advance reservation requests by email with short response times. The staff are very nice. Mostly you have to order at the bar and take your own food and drink to your table (they will give you a buzzer for when the food is ready). Food is fairly standard biergarten fare--mostly fried, the salad was very fresh and tasty. Maybe a few more options than a typical Berlin biergarten. But you're not going for the food, you're going to hang out with your friends. And it does that really well. The atmosphere is great, right in the heart of Kotti, the place is always busy especially on weekends. Good spot to start the evening and move on to music clubs later, if that is your thing. LGBTQ+ friendly. Price per person: €20–30 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
Great terrace to grab a drink in summer, is self service meaning you order and pay directly at the bar, cash only. Easy uncomplicated Price per person: €20–30 Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4
Love this place. There's always so many queer people chilling here. I love the atmosphere, the food is good, the prices for drinks are not too much. I wish they had more than 2 cashiers, because its gets very crowded after 19:00 and you need to stand in a long line to get served. Also, huge plus for gender-neutral toilets. Makes me feel very safe. Price per person: €1–10 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
