Schiller Backstube DELI - Berlin

We paid a visit to Schiller's Backstube for some breakfast on a Sunday morning. The location is quite ideal with the Backstube being a short stroll from Potsdamer Platz, but it's a shame that they did not make more out of it. Breads and pastries in the baskets looked like they had been heated up yesterday, and the fridge looked quite empty with little choice. For VEGANS and GLUTEN intolerant guests there was little to no choice. Our only fresh hope was the vegan soup, for which we came too early as it was only served from lunch onwards. On the website, it seems, they offer more than they actually have.Interior was nice and clean with a good overview of the products. Prices were generally decent. Staff was not impressive and careless/moody, and the lady behind the counter was on her laptop in the back while a queue was waiting to order out in front. Staff creates the atmosphere, and it felt very heavy and "abandoned"´which gave us the desire to leave as quickly as possible after a coffee.PROS:- Nice and clean interior- Location very good- Prices are goodCONS:- Moody staff- Half-empty fridges- Limited foods, not fresh- No music (this place needed it!)SUMMARY: We had higher expectations, and a great location like this deserves better care.

Shiller Backstube Deli adalah kedai kopi yang terletak dekat dengan Postdamer Platz. Tak jauh dari lokasi ini, terdapat pula Bradenburg Gate yang tersohor. Menu yang ditawarkan sesuai standar kedai kopi seperti aneka roti dan kue tar, serta tentunya pilihan kopi. Ruang makannya sangat nyaman dengan perpaduan nuansa rumah dan arsitektur modern.

This is a very smart, friendly and clean cafe. We used it for breakfast and lunch when we visited Potsdamer Platz. The owner spoke excellent English, as opposed to our terrible German, and we were made to feel very welcome.

We went for breakfast here - they offer selection of small sandwiches, croissants and pastry. All was very good, special highlight was the ham and cheese croissant and the coffee. We both agreed, that the cappucino, which we had was way better than the one around the corner in starbucks - and bit cheaper :)The interior is designed in this modern, hip style. It feels airy, comfortable.

Ich hatte nur einen Kaffee und Frühstück. Aber hier wird auch Kuchen, belegte Bagels, Suppe und kleine Gerichte angeboten, was alles sehr gut ausgeschaut hat. Auch vegetarische und vegane Gerichte. Gemütlich. Netter Selfservice, Tische und Tageszeitungen. Beim nächsten Berlinbesuch komme ich wieder!
