Pappelreihe Cafe - Berlin

Wonderful little cafe with great coffee, excellent service and very good place to work as well [they don't mind laptops] i'm typing this review from the Cafe :) will definitely come back!

I visited the area after a recommendation and went to this cafe based on suggestions online. I personally saw little of the bohemian up and coming neighbourhood promised to me but I am willing to accept I maybe didn't look hard enough. The Pappelreihe Cafe is warm and relatively inviting with a menu in English for those lazy people like me who don't speak German. They have an interesting selection on the menu - focussed on breakfasts and sandwiches as well as some tasty sounding specials. It feels like a bit of a fusion place so most people should find something good to eat. I can recommend the sandwiches - good bread and tasty ingredients. The salad I ordered was a little on the bland side - very stingy on avocado and swamped with leaves. I didn't spot much in the way of dressing. Still. At least it wasn't a tiny portion. And they have fresh pepper grinders! Hoorah!The coffee seemed good - the best I had on my trip BUT still that lousy dark bitter coffee most German cafes insist on serving. Or maybe I'm just fussy. The only downsides are the speed of service - it took AGES for my food to come - and they weren't even very busy. Still. At least it was fresh. Other negatives - and this is probably down to their friendliness more than anything - but it seemed to attract a lot of table hoggers. I counted seven people at one point hogging four tables with nothing more than two coffees between them all. I found that irritating. That and the guy who was snoring in the corner!They seem to offer some great sounding events too - like their beats and breakfasts. The music was not overly loud when I was there but maybe on those event days they'll crank it up. Overall I think it's worth a punt but I wouldn't visit the area just for this. The staff are friendly too.

Half of the ordered Breakfast was forgotten. We had to ask a couple of times for the rest of our breakfast, nobody seemed to care. The staff was unfriendly and rude, irgnored us even while talking to them. Also the quality and quantity of the food was not good. The cheese was very cheap one and it was hardly enough to feed to people (maybe if the conplete breakfast would have been served it would have been enough). But the coffee was good.

Pedimos un café muy bueno, pero pedí un Earl Grey que sabía más bien como un English Breakfast. Lo bueno es que sabía como un rico English Breakfast, así que me lo tomé de todas maneras. Buen lugar para tomar algo calientito en días frescos, buen ambiente y servicio.
