The restaur... read more At the beginning of the 1990s we were once a guest in the restaurant “New Venice”. Then I haven't seen her for many years. Now (07.2021) I was back. The restaurant is called “New Venice”. It is a residential and weekend property with several small canals on 6 islands north of the Spree in the Rahndorf district in Berlin (City Treptow-Köpenick). Originally there were sponge spruce meadows which were dehydrated by the channels from 1926 and subsequently cultivated. The small simple garden restaurant, which is a bit a mix of restaurant and clubhouse, is located on the northern island of Canal II, about 200m from the Fürstenwalder Allee. There are a few parking spaces, but you are well advised to look for a parking lot at Fürstenwalder Avenue at the height of the “Rosen-Apotheke” and then go the few steps. Already at the entrance was turned on the masculine service to the table in the garden by a display that turned half the entrance. The restaurant is currently closed due to Corona. The card came immediately, the order was received quickly. The drink came fast, the food after normal waiting time. The map is not too extensive and includes fish, poultry and meat dishes in the favourable price segment. The most expensive dish is the “Fishplatte New Venice” for 14,50 €uro. I had chosen Rotbarsch fillet with Dillrahm, parsley potatoes and salad supplement for 12 €uro. What then landed on the table before me visually reminded me of the long past GDR time. The part was sufficient – I became tired. But tastefully I didn't get away from the chair. Nevertheless, there is a recommendation for those who want to eat fast, cheap, quiet and in a beautiful location.

Direkt am Wasser gelegen stehen die Tische auf dem Rasen erstaunlich fest und gerade. Bedienung ist wie aus dem Vereinsleben, bedingt freundlich und nicht überbegeistert. Preise sind Endpreise günstig und nicht versalzen.
