What Herwig Schilling doesn't like about Le Coq D`or:
I ordered noodle with chicken but the chicken was mixed with paper.. And when we said that to the waiter she didn't trust us and at the end we had no reduction or even not one coffee for free! View all feedback.
They have a huge menu. That being said, the food here is just ok. Nothing amazing, but it isn't horrible. Good sushi in Berlin is a rarity and this place will just do fine. They changed the interior since the last time I was in here. What made my dining experience interesting was the fact that halfway into our meal, they changed the lighting. I mean, the colors of the lights. They switched from green to blue. This transition was a bit like a rave. All that was missing was some Techno/Trance or whatever the kids are calling it these days. It gave me a headache, and I felt outer-wordly the rest of the time I was trying to shove rolled rice balls into my mouth. Granted, this is not a normal occurrence. (At least I hope not. Another thing that was a bit annoying is that the seats have no backs. They are benches, so if you linger for a while you could end up with back pain. But this is me just being picky now. All in all, a satisfying dining experience, but it wasn't out of this world. Unless you thrive on Sushi-Rave duos. Also, why is this place's name in French when it is in Germany and it serves Asian fusion? Can someone please explain this to me? I find it a little bit confusing.
I visited this restaurant with my five friends a few weeks ago whilst staying in the Friedrichschain area of Berlin. We only ordered sushi, and from what we ordered I can say that it was pretty good value for money. The Californian rolls were slightly smaller than you would probably get elsewhere but the quality and selection on offer is really very good. There are a lot of choices to suit all palates, so those not into sushi can order noodle/ rice dishes. I would recommend this place if you are in the area.
Nice sushi, and It was not expensive at all. I had a tequila sunrise also wich was very good. The atmosphere was not so good, the walls were green and it didn't like the color, it didn't suit the restaurant.
The food is ok and very cheap, however our evening was ruined by an incredibly rude waitress who tried to charge us extra without informing us. When we asked about the extra charge on our bill, she was incredibly rude and unapologetic. Had it been a simple mistake that she apologized for, there would have been no issue, however her attitude made the situation much worse. As a result I will sadly not be eating here again.
Although it is cheap, there is a reason. We asked for 6 maki to be replaced by 2 nigiri on a menu. This naturally costs no more production-wise. Nonetheless they charged us extra for the change and after querying it, we we're told we 'must have known' there would be an extra charge, even though it wasn't stated. The situation was dealt with badly and we won't be returning.
