Beautiful setting, impressive wine list. Fabulous assortment of dishes and the best service we could ask for. thank you Gent for a memorable experience!!
I recently celebrated my birthday in “La Gondola Due”. It was a wonderful evening, due to excellent food, service and friends – one I shall not forget! The staff from ‘La Gondola Due’ put in lots of effort to make you feel welcome and they are concerned with one’s wellbeing. For example: They did not know it was my birthday until my friends presented me with their gifts. Despite the fact, that they had a full house this evening; all members of staff sang happy birthday to me and lit a sparkler (Wunderkerze) in my dessert for me. This was very thoughtful and kind! You never have to wait longer than 10 min for any dish and the food is presented artistically and with love – love for their profession (cooking) and for the appreciation of customers. “Eating for dinner” is something you do every day, “dining” on the other hand is an experience that “La Gondola Due” provides every day!
Excellent! We always come back to this wonderful restaurant. Great dishes and perfect and friendly service. Thank you!
I’m not sure why this place is so popular – we found it to be terrible. I have travelled the world for over 35 years on business and for pleasure, and I can honestly say that this place offered the worst customer service I have ever experienced. My best guess is that the staff dislike English people, as the locals were treated much better. We chose the place because of the reviews on this website, and booked via email to the restaurant; consequently, they knew we were English from the booking. We were sat on a table in the far corner of the outside patio and had to suffer falling pine needles from an overhanging tree during our stay. We asked to move to one of a few empty tables away from the trees, but apparently these were reserved, so we had to stay put. A couple of tables remained empty throughout our stay. The menu we were offered was very limited – I’m sure the locals were eating meals that weren’t on our menu – and we were told that there was only one choice of beer available and no sweet white wine. If this is true, then this place is no better than a corner shop with a drinks counter! The food was nothing to get excited about – run of the mill pasta dishes. However, we did notice that the locals who had chosen the same dishes as us had significantly more food delivered to them. After the main course we waited to be offered a desert, or even another drink. We were totally ignored! Indeed, at no time did anyone even visit our table to ask if everything was OK. After more than 15 minutes of boredom, we elected to cut our losses and go – I had to walk to the service desk to ask for our bill; again, a first for me.When the bill finally arrived (about 10 minutes later) I presented my credit card and paid. The waiter then waived the bill in my face as if to emphasise that no tip was included in the cost. He then stood there and waited next to me – I presume he was waiting for me to place some cash in his hand. No chance … we just got up and left. I won't tip for no service. If they had wanted some more of our money they should have asked if we wanted some more drinks and a desert instead of ignoring us.My advice would be to forget about this place – it is miles from the centre of Berlin in a residential district, and the time and effort required to get there simply isn’t worth it. Anywhere else would be better than this … and I do mean ANYWHERE.
