Great place and food, it's just a shame that such a charming place has been closed

Unfortunately, I just read that the restaurant is closing its kitchen and therefore the restaurant itself on November 30th! What a shame! We were actually planning to come back next January. We're so glad we had the pleasure of enjoying the excellent food, attentive service, and exceptional atmosphere three times. We wish the entire team all the very best!

Belle époque in Berlin. Wonderful French cuisine with dishes you don't always get. Small but good wine selection. Very reasonable value for money! Mrs. Heising is a very friendly and professional hostess!

There's no restaurant with as much charm as this one. The food is fantastic and everyone should try it at least once. It's more than suitable for an elegant evening and is a sight to behold. The crepe Suzette and the quail are simply delicious!

Heising Berlin is really a special place. From the special bell at the entrance to the immediate cloakroom delivery – here the experience starts before you sit. During our visit we were personally greeted by the boss and an employee. On Good Friday the restaurant was not crowded, which meant for us: more space and attention! The atmosphere recalls the golden 20s, with a touch of nostalgia. And yes, this is only paid in cash – a small retro touch that somehow fits, right? The service was excellent, attentive and the waiting times between the corridors were just right. The 4-course menu was not cheap with 89 euros per person, but the food was worth every cent. Gourmet cuisine from the finest! If the owner was a bit looser, the heising would be perfect. But perhaps this is exactly what belongs to the charm of this place – a little aristocratic strenge in the middle of the Berlin hustle and bustle.

As it is from time to time, this tad of restaurant. To get in, you have to ring. Only cash is accepted. In a living room atmosphere is fed and a three or four courses menu is served at a fair price. A suitable selection of wines. A very special experience at a Berlin visit!

Our first time at Heising was now on Friday...the arrival was nice, the jackets were taken away from us. Then we took place and immediately got bread, butter and small hearty pastries brought to the table. We ordered our menu everything went well. The Lord of the House may be a little bit petty, but that does nothing in the whole. The waiters are top! At some point shortly after our arrival, a group of 6 older ladies and gentlemen sat down to the next table near us, so that we could unfortunately get talks. Unfortunately, I had to learn how abnormally other non-Christian/evangelical religions were spoken... So I couldn't enjoy the food... Conclusion: interior nice but here and there in need of renovation, food delicious though nothing extraordinary waiter top. The waiting period between the corridors was a bit too long. Please change... when we got the 3 gear, we asked that if the 4 gear is finished, we can also be brought directly to the table. Ambience and waiting time were not so great, therefore 2 star deduction.

A wonderful ambience with nice and attentive staff. The food is fantastic and definitely worth its price. You should definitely book.

Absolutely charming restaurant with great food, attentive and attentive service and unique atmosphere. My husband and I were for a romantic dinner at Heising. The first impression of admission was like entering another time. The service was attentive and the lady of the house led us to our table. The atmosphere of the restaurant was perfect for an evening to two. For the evening we chose the 3-course menu. We decided for the trout soufflé and the foie grass as an appetizer, the lamb fillet and the fried heal butt as a main dish, and at the end the pear mousse and the Grand Dessert. All dishes were excellently tasted and beautifully dressed. The clock where the food was served also made sure that you could enjoy every walk. Particularly tasty were the halibut fillet, which was harmoniously rounded with the Risotto and the beurre-blanc. The lamb fillet was exactly prepared for the point, and even if it was a bit heavy for me, it was my husband. The dessert was also excellent. The pear mousse was served with dark chocolate and ribisles, so it was neither too sweet nor too deft. The ribisles helped to lighten up the whole dessert with their freshness. And the Grand Dessert was all right to his name! With a collection of different small desserts you could enjoy an impressive variety. It should also be mentioned that the Amuse bouche and chocolate restaurant serves. Especially the homemade chocolates were wonderful with a variation of chocolate goose, nut and nougat. The menu is definitely inexpensive. From the quality of the dishes to the friendly service to the unique ambience we really enjoyed the whole evening. It should be noted that in this establishment only cash is paid, but there is also an ATM nearby. A wonderful experience, perfect for a special evening. We can only recommend it.

Came here as a birthday treat for my partner, something different and a little extraordinary. Reviews are correct it is like stepping back in time dining in someone's dining room, kind of felt like the ambiance of Dinner for one tv show. From ringing the doorbell to stepping in it was a wonderful experience. It is a little expensive but it is a treat, food is excellent, the servers are attentive and polite and the lovely Maitre D/hostess made it such an elegant night. The wine too, best wine I have had since St. Emilion earlier on in the year. Also have to say that the correspondence/communication with Franziska to book was faultless too, amazing place thank you for a wonderful evening and experience.

My family and I were visiting Europe recently and after a very freezing time in Iceland we arrived into Berlin thinking that we would have a much nicer time here with a more bearable weather. On our very first night, we ended up at Heising as I read that it was a very old but established restaurant in Berlin. Walking in, we felt that we were transported into 100-200 years ago. The furniture all looked like they were antiques and then a very elderly lady walked to take orders from us. This again was very unusual to us. We ordered the set dinners as that is all they have and I would have to say that the food was a hit and miss. The appetizer was not the best but the mains were ok. What we did not appreciate was that payment was by cash only and when we expressed concern, they pointed out that there was an atm nearby. As a tourist is a foreign city, we do not just go to any atm to withdraw money nor do we walk around with a lot of cash. The bill came up to under 250 euros which we had but I just felt that if you want to be customer friendly, a credit card option is always practical. My children who are now 20 and 16 were very amused by the whole experience because it was very old school, service was perfunctory and having enjoyed many meals in other restaurants in different cities, they felt that the experience, food and service did not quite jive with the price paid. In any case we look upon the experience as one where we went back into history and it will be a one time only experience. Will opt for other places if we are in Berlin again.

Most people in the reviews complaining about the staff or the owner clearly have no concept of adequate restaurant etiquette (it's normal to be told off if you turn up late to a reservation, not to mention that it's very snobby to expect to be treated like royalty by the staff or owner just because you're paying... . That said, the experience we had at Heising tonight was beyond excellent. The staff was highly attentive and Frau Heising was incredibly welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent the chefs are clearly well versed in their craft, not to mention the menu... The selection of food was honestly perfect. It's not the biggest selection imaginable but that's a sign that both the owners and the chefs care about perfecting the dishes they have on offer. Apparently the menu hasn't changed in a good long while, but then again why ruin perfection? The food and drink were both reasonably priced, especially when you take quality into account (everything was beyond delicious . For a 4 course and a decent amount of drink (a wine bottle, two apperitifs and a digestif it was a little over 200 euros (for context, in most other places like this that I know of it's usually double the price... . We were expecting Heising to be excellent but it honestly surpassed our expectations by a lot. It was the perfect restaurant experience, and from now on it will be my personal standard for fine dining. Thank you to the staff and Frau Heising for a perfect night.

Restaurant Heising is an amazing time warp that all tourists who goes to Berlin should visit! You step from the street directly into grandmother 's (or great grandmother 's) dining room, as it looked 50 years ago. Don 't forget to use the almost invisible door bell, as the door is always locked! They serve well prepared and nicely arranged French without big frills. The staff (a.o. the owner, who is well advanced in age) is extremely polite, personal and professional, we have never felt this much like welcome guests not just some random customers. If anything negative absolutely has to be said, it must be that it takes too long between serving the courses. Remember to bring along cash, you can’t pay with credit card. Words can 't really describe the experience; you have to visit this place!

Having dinner at Heising is not like visiting your ordinary downtown upscale restaurant, it is more like dining in someones beautifully decorated old fashioned living room peaceful, comfortable and cosy. To get in you´ll have to ring a bell (and the waiter actually locks the door behind you). The food is good, but not outstanding, and the service is just right. The recommended wines made a good job together with the food. Altogether a unique experience.

A french gastronomy restaurant in Berlin that, frankly, could offer more. In one menu combination, had the scargot which was so, so. The fish was very good. Limited deserts. Limited wine list. Attention: Accept NO credit cards (only cash).

WOW!! This is a very special restaurant, one of the oldest in Berlin and definitely the best service! I was lucky to find a table there on a short notice due to the train strike.. reserve in advance!! The food was unbelievable! I chose 3 course menu- and loved all of the dishes. The owner came to greet me and checked everything is ok.. And the waiters were very professional and attending! Would love to go back on my next trip to Berlin. FYI- they accept only cash payments- so prepare in advance.

It was a weird experience for us... We're maybe not the kind of people u would expect in a fine-dining restaurant, but who cares? We didn't feel 100% welcome, didn't find the host (m'am Heising very friendly, but maybe there's just too much of an age-gap : At the end we had to pay 204€, we gave 210€ and she didn't come back with the change. I told her about it and she apologized and gave me 10€ back, which made me feel bad because we didn't want to pay less than we had too, but maybe she felt bad about forgetting it. I dont know, the whole thing just felt a bit weird. But yeah overall experience: food was good, not wauw. And they changed the bottle of wine, which was cool :

To give the Heising restaurant review is a tough one... The environment is soo special. We where absolutely stunned by the unique interior. It's like being transported years back in time. In fact, it's a time capsule. If you like being transported in time,...which we did, it's a hit just for the premises. The furnishings and the decorations are in detail held very consistent in style. Beautifully consistent. Now then the food? It's in no way dusty or antique. But classical French style. And very well cooked. Here we have a family driven restaurant and the chef has great skills. Top ingredients and cooking on a high level. So the fabulous interior is in fact accompanied by great cooking. It's very hard not to like this place. And to like what they are serving. Thus, very hard to not give five TA-points. Even if the food experience isn't in the stratosphere, it's high up enough! Prices by every measure more than fair. Very, very recommended to visit! And please do, since the owners indicated that they maybe will not be around in business for so very long...

The food was excellent in all choices and flavors. Fine dining and special atmosphere. The only thing that was poor was the reservation system (only by phone). There was some misunderstanding, when we dis our reservation and when we arrived to the restaurant, the lady...confronted us with rude manners.

Previously ate here in 2016 whilst on business. Luckily my wife was able to accompany me this time and she was equally impressed. This is a real gem of a restaurant!

Okay, I know most people wouldn’t necessarily go to a French restaurant in Berlin. But it is excellent. Not inexpensive, but well worth it. You get a 3 or 4 course menu for either €52 or €60. Wines are under €50 so figure €150-175 per...couple. So worth it. Decor is nice, homey, and interesting. All of the food was excellent as was the service. Highly recommended.
