The food is absolutely delicious. The ambiance is okay. However, the service leaves much to be desired. They were extremely inflexible about moving two tables closer together, even though it would have been possible in a separate private room. The staff's tone was really harsh. It also takes some getting used to that there are no knives provided, which was explained to us as a house rule.
A truly unique experience visiting HENNE. I felt very well looked after, and the old-world charm of the ambiance was quite cozy. The chicken was a touch too spicy for my taste, but it was very juicy.
We were there with a group of 15 people. We were greeted very warmly, but were informed that we had to sit at two tables. The reason given was simple: there were fixed benches. Since there were plenty of chairs available, we decided to push the tables together. Our joy was short-lived, however, as we were rather rudely told to return to our original arrangement. It was immediately emphasized that only up to 12 people could be accommodated. This hadn't been mentioned during the reservation process. After everything was back in place, the owner apologized for his abrupt manner. From that point on, the evening had a very bitter aftertaste. The meal consisted of half a chicken, served either with potato salad or coleslaw. There was nothing negative to say about that. It's a shame; it could have been a lovely evening.

The food was amazing, and the staff were just incredible. So attentive and really cared for us while we were here. Will 100% be back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: €20–30
The food is excellent und the crew is very accommodating to all your wishes. You definitely need to make s reservation, even if you are only 2 people or right after opening. I speak out off own experience!! We travel almost 1 hour with public transportation just to get the best chicken in town !

The Henne is definitely a berlin icon. With over 100 years of history, he's seen a lot. The truth is that the site is authentic, German, wood, beer, tart, and its specialty, fried chicken. Here you will not find big cards, you will be expected three dishes (1/2 fried chicken, cabbage salad and potatoe salad, accompanied by a loaf of bread) no more! You have to book as it gets up and the service is not very fast. I recommend that you go without haste, ask for your beer calmly, relax the food and enjoy the atmosphere.

Don't expect fancy dishes a plethora of choices. What they do, they do well. They keep things simple by offering you chicken beer. Done the same way for decades. It was delicious ! Very unpretentious charming.
We reserved a table at this restaurant after reading reviews online. It is a little way out of the main centre but worth the walk. The chicken, potato salad and coleslaw are amazing. If you have the time definitely go. It was lovely to go somewhere different to the normal tourist traps.
Visited many times. Always really good and a bit different from the norm which is a plus.
This is by far the best roast chicken you will eat bar none!!! Not a patch on the Colonel 's chicken. Plus, going there, you will experience 'the real Berlin ' not all the touristy stuff. Just order half a chicken, a Krautsalad and a Kartoffelsalad with a large Landsbier and you will be in heaven.

If you are looking for American style fried chicken, this is not the place for you. It's deep fried, but not breaded. The potato salad, sauerkraut and..
Always our first-night dinner in Berlin after years. If you don't have a good experience here, shame on you! ALWAYS CONSISTENT and love the staff (and of course the Henne)!

We knew what to expect delicious fried chicken , good beers in an historical establishment. We prebooked a table by phone. On arrival we were given two seats at the serving table which was where the waiters kept their cutlery etc in the main thoroughfare....Other couples arrived and were shown to their own tables. One waiter was excellent, he other, the main waiter was dismissive to the point of rudeness virtually throwing the plates down in front of us. When we asked for the bill we hadn’t realised that it was cash only as we weren’t told on booking. We went and got the cash and paid. He gave us our change euros short! We noticed went back and he gave us the money back but with no apology. Why is it that old institutions think they can rely on repeat tourist trade but not deliver the proper service? PS the famous chicken was really dry.
