As we spent way more time than expected in the museum, we decided to eat at the museum café for lunch. It is impressively decorated, looking like the 1930s rich salons, with leather-covered sofas and wooden-like walls. and floors. The menu is containing quite several...items, from flammkeuch pizzas, to sausage plates and salads. We had a flammkeuch and a sausage plate, which both were very good. We topped it off with... What Erwin Vogel doesn't like about Cafe im Deutschen Historischen Museum:
we've been long-standing fans of this cafe; it has a convenient location, a good atmosphere, and a nice ambiance. Yet today's meal made us change our view. the food was clearly lazy, the air-conditioning was off, and the place felt like indifferent. I had a...bowl of pasta with almost no sauce, with mushrooms that were barely distinguishable, and chunks of onions not cooked. it was barely edible, and certainly not wo... View all feedback.
Faster and more efficient service. very good omelette and good cake. correct prices. outdoor terrace.
Coffee and cake are okay, but nothing special, neither in offer, nor in taste or creativity. minus one point.Cuch prices are ok for the location (4.20 for a normal size piece cheese or apple cake.) in combination with a hot drink (3.20 for cappuccino) I find it expensive. the location is very good. inside cozy, wood-clad walls, padded seats and the tables are not too close together. minus second point: service. in the (expensive) caffe I do not expect service per se, but rather an appropriate well-being culture. a smile, a certain readiness. the waiters in the caffe in the dhm wore a miene as if they were thundered in the school to the kitchen service and have not given me the feeling of being a welcome guest.
In caffe. the ordered cake was unfortunately out. I was told this only when my coffee was already drunk for half. I then dispensed with cake. Pity
This was a pleasant surprise. we arrived at the museum and decided to eat something to satisfy hunger. at the end we decided to eat a pizza and a teller with German food. they were delicious. but the highlight were the desserts. amazing cake. it was difficult to decide what to eat. we're planning a return before we leave berlin.
The place is located in the museum of German history, the prices are something high, the coffee was never bad.
