Unsafe environment and unprofessional staff We visited BrewDog Berlin Mitte on February 24th—a deeply difficult day for us as Ukrainians, marking the anniversary of Russia’s ongoing full-scale invasion. After attending a demonstration, we came to the bar hoping for a quiet evening together, as we had done the previous year at this same location. The bar was quite crowded, so when a group of men asked to join our table, we agreed. However, hearing them speak Russian acted as a severe trauma trigger given the significance of the day. My friend politely asked if they would mind moving to another table, explaining her grief and the context of the date. The guests were understanding and moved immediately; there was absolutely no conflict between us. Unfortunately, the staff then intervened and accused us of discrimination. A bartender approached and lectured us about being in a “civilized country,” even threatening us with a ban. When we asked to speak with the manager to clarify the situation, our concerns were dismissed. Both the bartender and the manager repeatedly interrupted us and refused to let us speak. The manager took a patronizing tone regarding our trauma, accusing us of “building walls.” The situation escalated further when the bartender raised his voice and used offensive language. He repeatedly called us “stupid” and told us to “go f*ck ourselves.” As a group of women, we felt incredibly unsafe, and one of us was left in tears. It was devastating to experience such a lack of professionalism and empathy. The only human moment was when another guest approached us afterward to offer comfort and support. That kindness was much needed after such a distressing encounter. A formal complaint regarding this incident has already been filed with BrewDog Global HQ and BrewDog Germany management. Beer is good, though.
We wanted to visit as many breweries on our trip as possible. We chose this one for Berlin. We came in during an hour that was not busy. We were seated right away and given menus. The one server on duty had a party of 8-9 people she was serving, as well as one couple. It took her some time to take our order for beer and food. My husband wanted to order a burger, as advertised online, but they do not serve burgers at this location. He felt rushed to order a pizza, popular option, that he did not like overall. I ordered the Caesar salad sandwich. I was served the Caesar salad with chicken. I would’ve eaten that, however, it cost more than the sandwich did. The waitress took the salad back. She brought me the Caesar sandwich, but it was burnt at one end. I did not want to wait any longer for food so I ate around the burnt part. Beers were really good
