A rather elegant Italian restaurant. The menu is standard and contains few surprises: all the usual pasta and pizza classics. The service is rather inattentive once you are seated. But the food and wine are correct and comforting. View all feedback.
What Jesse Rippin doesn't like about Al Dente:
On the day I visited the place was perhaps unusually busy and it took the better part of an hour for our food to be served despite us having selected from the daily lunch menu. The staff were attentive though and deeply apologetic. When the...food came, the portion looked small relative to the price but the quality and flavour were good. Had service been faster, I'd have awarded a higher score however, my experience... View all feedback.
We have been to the restaurant a couple of times and it has been pretty good. The food is good in the evenings and reasonably priced. The service then has also been good. We went for lunch recently. The place was quite quiet. When the...meal came, it seemed one of the dishes was incorrect and the waiter turned on his heels without explanation. So my wife had to wait while the rest of us started their meals. After a while, the correct dish came. Again, the food was good, if pretty standard pasta. However, when the rest of the party had finished their lunch, the waiter whipped away my wife's plate before she had finished properly. To further detract, because the service was not up to scratch, we were not going to leave a tip. I paid with slightly more cash than the amount due and was not offfered any change back. It was only a few cents so with no German or Italian to fall back on it wasn't worthwhile to argue. However, the presumption that they could keep the excess grated. It seems to me the service is better when it is busy and the staff have less time to stand around chatting. It won't put us off the restaurant but it was disappointing
Had a lovely meal here. Very friendly staff and great pizza. The merlot was very good too. Staying at the leonardo royal hotel, turn right and follow street up for mins. Would happily recommend

Went as friends. We were at an international convention. Not overly busy. But we were about So fairly early. Had a lovely meal. Great Italian food. Which we love. Staff really helpful. And attentive to our needs. Made our stay very pleasant. Would...have visited again but only found on second to last day
Cycled past many times on way home and liked the way it presented itself. High ceilings, smart staff and great smells wafting into the street. We went on a Sunday evening and the tram stops right outside at Hufeland Str.Friendly staff, clean and tidy. Complementary...schnapps at end. Good prices, Recommended if you are in this area
