We ordered the chicken burger and chicken strips served in a croissant, which was a delightful twist on the typical chicken breast on a bun. We also tried the salmon burger, which featured a delicious salmon fish cake on a toasted croissant. Both meals came with chips and salad, and they were absolutely delicious. Don't miss out on the milkshakes—they're a must-try! The flavors are unique, and they're wonderfully thick and satisfying. Overall, a great experience!
However, today we decided to take a chance and gave it a try, after checking it out from the outside first. What a fantastic discovery it turned out to be! The owner, Beulah, has a keen eye for the unusual and an attention to detail that is evident in the layout and decor. It’s clear a lot of thought has gone into every aspect of the place. The book theme runs throughout, from an intriguing book on the table to another that enclosed our bill. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and relaxing, with well-spaced tables. There’s a small outdoor patio, while the interior features various partitions, levels, and a lovely wooden floor. Unfortunately, our waitress was brand new and had difficulty answering our menu questions. However, she was friendly and managed to get assistance, which was appreciated. I ordered the gourmet cheeseburger. At R95, I thought it was a bit pricey, but it came with a side salad and chips. The meal was served on a wooden platter, and the presentation was very inviting. We eat first with our eyes, and I was eager to dive into this towering 8-inch burger. The salad was crisp, fresh, and firm, and had a delicious dressing, while the chips were seasoned with a delightful spice. The bun was lightly grilled, and the patty was cooked to perfection. I really enjoyed the juicy and flavorful burger. My wife chose the chicken bacon salad, which was accompanied by a charming homemade bran mini loaf. She thoroughly enjoyed it. My daughter had a mini kids' burger and chips from the kids' menu. To finish, I had a double espresso, which was the weak point of an otherwise excellent meal. I think they could improve the size, strength, and quantity of the espresso served. A smaller teaspoon for the espresso would also be better. Overall, we felt welcomed and relaxed at this charming neighborhood spot, enjoying a well-presented and tasty meal. As I said, it was a great find! We will definitely return to try more options on the menu and unwind.
My wife and I enjoyed the chicken soup, which was absolutely delicious. The cappuccino was also fantastic, and I highly recommend it. It's a very peaceful spot to relax with a great cup of coffee and dive into a good book. The service was excellent, and the staff were incredibly friendly.
Having driven past on nearly a daily basis since they opened I was dying to give The Social House a try and decided to pop in for a family brunch. <br/ <br/ The decor is amazing with a hip coffee shop/cafe vibe with various seating options from the traditional table to a cosy armchair. Staff were welcoming, friendly and really helpful. The owner seems hands-on and popped past our table to explain to the kids how to fold the 'origami fortune teller '. <br/ <br/ We started off our visit with coffee and hot chocolates, the coffee isn 't the best but it 's not terrible. My wife and I both ordered 'The Beef Sandwich ' on light seed bread (Which is served as an open sandwich) and the kids both had the Nutella Orea Flapjacks and ice-cream. All the food was really tasty even though the beef was a bit on the tough side.<br/ <br/ There isn 't a dedicated kids area however, there is enough to keep them occupied at the table.<br/ <br/ Will definitely go back!
Highly recommended place and I must say I’m pleasantly surprised at this “hidden jewel “ Stunning decor and the food is out of this world Staff are very professional and have a warmth that make you feel at ease, they will be happy to assist you connecting to the free WiFi. Attention to detail is amazing. There is definitely a New York feel to this place with a books filling the walls. There are younger folks here working on their laptops and enjoying the ambiance. Outside area for those that smoke Top point wheel chair friendly to all areas inside the restaurant Make this place your “place to celebrate “ they block off part of the restaurant for private parties at a nominal fee. PS they have a liquor license and supply wine and I saw a wide range there on the well presented table . I have seen the set up and it looks amazing. The customer can choose from a verity of snacks and cold meats that are presented very tastefully chefs obviously present these platters
