Centrally located, we luckily were recommended this restaurant by a staff member from the Dispensary. Firstly, the service was outstanding & before we left "Naughty Nardy" even took the trouble to give us his tips on the best attractions to vist in Bendigo. But the food - yum! I had the slow braised lamb shoulder with bean stew, absolutely delicious. Another family member had roast pumpkin tortellini and we shared a... View all feedback.
I got a recommendation for a Crafty Pint article to check this out based on its beer menu, but I didn't expect the food menu to be so well thought out and varied. I probably could've ordered 3 or 4 dishes if I was more hungry.I decided for the kangaroo pastrami with roast capsicum, and the seared scallops with chorizo and sweet potato I think it was. Both were fantastic, bursting with flavour, and very more-ish. I could've eaten 2 or 3 plates of the scallops alone. The beer that I chose was quite a nice accompaniment also.It was pretty quiet when I rocked up just after 12pm, but the waitress was friendly and attentive, couldn't ask for more.
Dined here on Friday night as we stayed in Bendigo - in the main street and was a short walk from our hotel so nice to be able to walk to dinner and enjoy food & drinks. We enjoyed the lamb shank croquettes, fellino salami, scallops & barramundi for starting plates, for the main plate we had the pork cutlet and saved room for dessert and went with the lemongrass brulee - all the food we had was super delicious - the flavours and combinations were really good. My fav was dessert - the apple salad and plum sorbet with the brulee was great. For drinks I had a mojito and hubby had a few different beers which he enjoyed. Service was friendly. Great local gem and if we are ever visiting Bendigo again we'll be sure to stop by.
We had the tasting plate $54 each for 4 savoury choices plus a sweet. The food was absolutely delicious and the sweet yum yum yum.
Visited on a Sat night and ordered a variety of meals for 4people. The quality was first class and all enjoyed the different servings. Of special mention is the Rump steak, not the usual 1/2" flat slab, but a quality thick peace of very tender and charcoal grilled steak. Excellent. The pan fried salmon and lamb shoulder also received high praise. Scallops was the standout entree. Overall a great meal. The service was friendly and efficient. Can highly recommend this place.
Nothing really appealed to either of us on the menu & we both have very different tastes! What we did order had a common theme. A lot of the food was pickled and had a very strong vinegar taste. Not my cuppa tea. Don't think I'd bother going back.
