Ate here a few years ago and loved it. Hoping it would be a s good as last time we took a local who had not been before. FOS did not disappoint, we had limited time got the meals in a timely fashion, good service, friendly staff. The food was just as good as the last visit. My only gripe is I did email and leave a message to get a booking out of hours I do not think this is monitored. A great before show option which... View all feedback.
What Hipolito Ritchie doesn't like about FOS Kitchen & Bar:
Disappointed. Expecting traditional Greek dishes or at least some as advertised they would be on the specials board. Allergy to nuts made most dishes off limits. Won't be going back View all feedback.
Sunday at 1pm, not busy and it shows why Waitress was super nice so this review has nothing bad to say about her.
I'm not going to lie to you i ate here a couple times 6 years ago in 2003.
We had been looking at the menu in the Window for the last month or so and attracted by its traditional Greek offerings we went along for dinner. It was busy and perhaps a larger crowd than expected as can happen early in the week.We shared a plate of white bait, plump and moist in the centre but crisp on the outside. A good start. The Moussaka was very good with delicious crispy edges but strangely served with an overly generous quantity of shoestring fries, not mentoined on the menu. Perhaps a little salad to cut the richness of the Moussaka or some traditional potaoes with lemon would have been a better accompaniment, particularly as we had ordered a side of fries to share. A warning from the wait staff would have been good. The greek salad gnocchi was well recieved although the ammount of Feta cheese was more than the dish needed. For me the half a chicken roasted with salsa verde turned out to be something different altogether. It was actually a chicken breast, done on the grill, with pesto, served on a bed of thinly sliced potatoes, both sweet and standard white. These had a nice char on the outside suggesting they were also done on the grill. The chicken fillet was sliced after grilling to sit nicely on the potatoes but as often happens the thin end was dry and overdone and thick end undercooked in the middle. Whilst this was a potentially ok dish it wasn't what was on the menu and hence not what I had ordered. I think you need to tell people if you are serving something completely different. The menu needs to be more specific and the wait staff better able to provide information and advise about dishes or changes in the kitchen. For dessert we shared the Tiramisu Sunday. This was a disappointing deconstruction and if you were expecting anything vaguely related to the flavours of Tiramisu I wouldn't order it.FOS does get good reviews, the menu reads well and some of the food was good so we will give it another go but based on tonights experience it doesn't quite measure up to a Melbourne Greek dinner or other restaurant choices in Bendigo.
Only recently opened but already a winner. We shared a variety of dishes and each was delicious with the octopus a stand out. A creative menu with lots of options. Meals were well presented and our host informative and attentive. Looking forward to returning soon.
Food here overall is of a good standard. However value for money it is not.I ordered the lamb cutlet and the wife the chicken breast. $32 dollars for a lamb cutlet that wouldn't weigh 200 grams is insane. As soon as the plate hit the table I was disappointed. The wife's chicken breast wasn't much better. Tasted fine but prices and portion sizes are at a massive disparity. Better options in bendigo.
