This is a regular place for us to while away a hot sunny afternoon with tapas or a sultry evening with a more substantial meal. Run by Ana y Pepe Bar Stop is just up from and opposite the Estación. Opening times even in summer are irregular especially in the evening so it’s a bit of pot luck finding them open but it’s well worth persevering. They do a roaring trade for locals breakfasts. The menu seldom changes comprising a wide variety of Andalusian tastes both meat fish as well as superb fresh salads with many of the ingredients grown in their own allotment. I’ve never had a bad or disappointing meal here and pretty much everything is worth trying. The carne con tomate, baccalao (cod) gazpacho are particular favourites. Ridiculously cheap for the quality. Highly recommended for a taste of authentic “non-tourist” fare. And now in winter it really is a port in the storm. The river is in flood outside, thunderstorms all last night but inside here there is delicious paella and soupa de picadillo to warm you up. I just love this place any time of year.
