Village Host Pizza Grill Belmont

We both ordered personal pizzas—mine was a combination with everything. First off, the crust was remarkably hard, about 10 mm thick, resembling a cardboard base with just a slight rise on top. Was it really so hard to mix in some yeast? It felt like we were eating a frozen batch of subpar crusts that had been hastily reheated. The restaurant was hardly busy, so I really don’t get it. The crust reminded me of sailor's hardtack. Next, the toppings on the combo pizza were undercooked, resulting in a watery texture, and the cheese was predominantly cheddar. Why? It added nothing and didn’t fit the pizza at all. The ingredients themselves were the most basic, resembling what you'd find in a can—simple black olives and nothing unique or of better quality than your average fast-food pizza from places like Pizza Hut or Domino's. The sauce was spread so thinly that it didn’t contribute much flavor to the bland vegetables and poorly cooked cheese. And the mozzarella? There was way too much—a massive 15 mm thick patty of cheese that was barely touched by the meager sauce, which was nearly absent in flavor with each bite. California's pizza reputation must stem from experiences like this. The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars is that some people prefer this over the new place nearby, which is genuinely good and constantly crowded. I worry that the popularity of this subpar place could actually grow. I’d rather get a pizza from Papa John’s at the Molly Stone’s, which would be way better than this place and wouldn’t replace my favorite spot. Honestly, even a frozen pizza would be a better choice—like something from Red Baron or similar. There’s no worse place for fresh pizza within five miles. In Foster City, even a MOD Pizza is a better option, and I’m not a fan of that either. Owners and managers, is this the standard you accept? When was the last time you compared your pizza to ANY alternatives out there? I know you might be struggling, but please do better than the frozen stuff from the nearby Lunardi. Sheesh.

The staff were incredibly friendly. We ordered two small salads but ended up getting two large salads at no extra cost. We also received a complimentary drink. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and is very cozy.

The pizza may seem small, but it's just the right size for my kids. It has about 10 pieces, and with three children, each was able to have two slices and still had some left over. My oldest is quite a picky eater, so I was thrilled that he enjoyed the pizza here. The sauce was delicious and the pizza was cooked to perfection.

We love Village hosts, they always deliver best quality pizza never failed!!!! Fair prices for delicious pizzas!!!!

First time visiting this pizzeria and I'll definitely be back. I had the BBQ Chicken pizza and it was delicious. The ingredients were all fresh and the pizzas were cooked perfectly.
