The enthusiastic, mostly teenage staff ensures a friendly visit, often going above and beyond to serve customers, including children. With a rotating selection of unique and seasonal flavors alongside classic options like cookies and cream and chocolate, there's something for everyone. Though prices have recently increased, the quality remains high, and customers appreciate the thoughtful renovations of the space. A visit here, especially on a warm day, promises to satisfy any sweet tooth.
Good ice cream. A little bit expensive but some wonderful flavors. Could use a better plain chocolate
Belmont has a fantastic ice cream shop. They offer unique flavors like Basil Chip. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I tried the coffee and ginger snap molasses flavors, while my wife opted for Basil Chip and Vegan Chocolate. It was the perfect treat to cool off on a hot day.
The ice cream at this restaurant is fantastic and reasonably priced. They offer multiple vegan flavors as well. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The space is a bit cozy, but definitely worth a visit.
During my visit on a hot summer day, I purchased a "micro" size (a large scoop) for $5. I chose Cocoa Joel, which is a combination of their Milk Chocolate and Bittersweet (dark) chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips and cookies similar to Oreos. I have always been a fan of this ice cream shop and have been consistently impressed with the quality over the years. However, I was a bit disappointed that the prices have increased to $5 for one scoop. The store recently underwent a renovation, with a new black and red color scheme, as well as all new tables and seats. I recommend visiting this establishment if you are looking for delicious, high-quality ice cream.
If you notice some similarities between Rancatore's ice cream in Belmont (and Lexington) and Toscanini's in Cambridge, you're not mistaken. Both have bold signage and are owned by two brothers. Gus, the older brother, runs Toscanini's, while Joe runs Rancatore's. Although Joe used to work with Gus, they eventually parted ways due to differing opinions on ice cream. As a result, they decided to start their own separate businesses to maintain a harmonious family relationship. In Belmont, you'll find a wide variety of ice cream, sorbet, and yogurt flavors, including seasonal and unique options. I decided to try the khulfi (cardamom, almonds, pistachio) and the orange blossom pistachio, both of which were delicious and indulgent with a nice balance of flavors. This friendly competition between siblings has brought quality ice cream to Boston, much to the delight of ice cream lovers and our waistlines.
