One of the only authentic Shanghainese places around (the other being Shanghai House). Their flavor reminds me of my childhood. The pork mooncakes and radish pastry are flakey and delicious! The kaofu and tofu with shredded veggies are also very nice. The overall flavor is tasty and I'll be going back to try more of their dishes. View all feedback.
What Sunny W doesn't like about China Box:
Bought Mongolian chicken from their deli, there was bone and cracked my tooth. Now I got my tooth pull out during pregnancy and need to implant after delivery. The during whole claim process was painful because of the owner didn't cooperate and show any care. The owner said since the insurance company deny the claim so he refuse to pay. I'll take legal action. For your safety, Stay away from this store! View all feedback.
The restaurant provides genuine and well-crafted Shanghainese take-out boxes at reasonable prices. Additionally, the menu is extensive and includes vegetarian options.
This is one of the few genuine Shanghainese restaurants in the area, the other being Shanghai House. The flavors here bring back fond memories of my childhood. The pork mooncakes and radish pastries are flaky and delicious! The kaofu and tofu with shredded vegetables are also quite good. Overall, the flavors are delightful, and I can't wait to return and sample more of their dishes.
The bento boxes they offer are absolutely amazing! I'm so glad I discovered this hidden gem during the COVID-19 pandemic. For just $10, you get bento boxes that include perfectly cooked vegetables and proteins—what more could you want? Overall, the food I tried was simply fantastic. I love the flavors, portion sizes, and the price. This has quickly become my new favorite restaurant in Seattle!
After chatting with one of the employees for recommendations, I decided to try the chili fish bowl, which featured cod seasoned with chili spices and cabbage served over steamed rice. At just $10, it seemed worth a shot. They also have other Chinese options like Taiwanese pork and hard-boiled egg over rice, Singaporean noodles, pork spare ribs, and more. As for the chili fish bowl, it was decent. The cod was tender, which I appreciated, but the chili flavor was lacking. I didn’t really taste the red chili flakes I had hoped for, though I did spot a few in the bowl. The cabbage salad was minimal; I would have liked more vegetables since the bowl was mostly filled with rice. There was a nice sauce that soaked some of the rice, and I later realized it must have come from the Taiwanese pork that had probably fallen into my bowl, as I sampled a few pieces of it. I’ll definitely try that next time! Overall, it’s great to have this casual takeout option at Jing Jing in the Factoria area when you’re craving affordable Asian food. However, it doesn’t quite compare favorably to other Asian grocery stores with similar offerings, like Uwajimaya.
This has become my go-to spot for lunch! It's a hot deli, so the food isn't made to order, but everything is freshly prepared by hand and the portions are generous. You have to try the sweet and sour pork ribs and the Shanghai meatballs. And the desserts are simply AMAZING—particularly the egg tarts and rice cakes, which have the perfect balance of sweetness and flavor. The staff are incredibly friendly; they accidentally prepared two boxes when I only asked for one, and when I offered to pay for the extra one for dinner, they insisted on giving it to me at half price. For just nine bucks, you get a FAST, healthy (especially if you choose white rice), and satisfying meal that tastes fantastic. You should definitely check it out!
