Rascals - Beech Mountain
Rascals
Description
Rascal’s at Beech Mountain offers a dining experience that’s evolving from casual fare to a more refined menu. The food quality ranges from satisfying crab cake sandwiches and juicy burgers to expertly prepared entrees like tenderloin with housemade sauces. Service experiences vary, with some guests praising attentive staff and chef interactions, while others find service slow or inattentive. Portions can feel small compared to prices, which have increased notably under new management. The ambiance is cozy but dated, with indoor and outdoor seating accommodating limited capacity. Overall, Rascal’s shows promise for those seeking quality food in a relaxed mountain setting, though expectations should be managed.

We have a second home on Beech Mountain and always look forward to visiting Rascals. The food is consistently delicious, the drinks are fantastic, and the servers are always friendly and attentive. We dine there frequently whenever we are in the area.
Service was quick, food was very good. Bartender was absolutely fantastic. Best drinks we have had. Would highly recommend
This restaurant has recently closed its doors for good. The shutdown came suddenly and without any explanation. It’s truly a loss for Beech Mountain.
Oh Snap! I found a gem in the mountains of NC. Once in awhile I will come across a place that is slap yo mamma good in all categories and this place nailed it. I wish I could have said I found it but my daughter told me about it and said it was a must try. So...that is what I did. The place is somewhat hidden inside a small strip mall so you will need to keep an eye open for it. We were quickly greeted by Karen when we arrived and promptly sat at our table. Karen and all of the other staff were great. We were visited by our Waitress, Olivia and immediately took our drink order. Olivia is not a drinker so she sent Mark over to chat about wine. Mark was awesome and suggested a great bottle of Red that my wife and I greatly enjoyed. With a few waters and a bottle of red it was appetizer time. I ordered the Smoked Fish Dip and BAMM it was delicious. Perfect amount of smoke and the fish was excellent. Definitely will get it again. My wife ordered a Maine Lobster Bisque that tasted straight out of Maine. Again delicious. Could have been a little more hot but just gave us an excuse to eat it fast. For dinner I was sooo torn between ordering a burger or a ribeye. Both were recommended but the burger was Wagyu beef. So I went with the burger cooked medium rare. Guess what??? They nailed it. It is very uncommon to find a restaurant that knows how to cook a medium rare burger but they had no problem. The burger was amazing with the perfectly cooked wagyu paired with sautéed mushrooms and onions and a side of fries. My wife had the Steakhouse Patty Melt that was (from what I was told amazing and looked perfectly cooked as well for Medium. I was not offered a bite so going on work of mouth only ; . I should have only eaten half the burger but no way when it tasted that good. During the meal we were visited by Chef Paula who is a real gem. There are various reasons people want to become a chef but in Paula's case it is clearly a passion! Now, I am not a desert fan especially after eating a huge meal but when it's offered following an outstanding meal and my wife does like deserts, what do you do? You order it. But first, I was so stuffed I had to ask (with the expectation of hearing No if they had limoncello. Ohhhhh Baaaaammmm, they Did! I am in Heaven!! And the same brand I buy. So, with that confirmation and based on their recommendation we ordered fried Oreos. Now let me just say this because I know what you are thinking, this is no fried Oreo you get at a fair. These fried Oreos were slap yo mamma good, although I would encourage you NOT to slap your mom, I would encourage you to try these.they are made from scratch and are simply amazing. This WILL be a regular spot for me when I visit the area. So many more things to try on the menu and conversations to continue with the staff. Simply a great experience.
The only reason this place got three stars is because the waitress Windy. Windy is cute spunky and just a charmer. Rascals is under new management So their prices went up substantially. My $9.50 chicken grilled sandwich was nine dollars with a side salad. The grilled chicken sandwich is now $14 without this side. If you want the additional side it is $2.50. So you are spending over $20 with the tip for lunch, unacceptable. I will keep Windy but not Rascals.
