Went to the Freemasons for the first time for an early dinner today. The staff were really welcoming and professional and the bar and restaurant area is full of character and the atmosphere is very relaxed and dogs are welcome in the bar area. My wife had Rarebit with Tomato Chutney for a starter and Mushroom Risotto for her Main Course. I had Croquille St Jacque to start and Ox Cheek Bougignon for my Main. It was all beautifully cooked and easily the best meal we've had in a pub for years a different standard altogether from the other pubs we've visited in the surrounding area. The menu had plenty of vegetarian and gluten free options too and was easy to read and understand the information about allergens. All in all a fabulous meal in a lovely, characterful pub, with friendly, professional staff who made you feel welcome. Came for opening night and it was amazing, highly recommend!! Arrived and the atmosphere was lovely, both log fires on, very clean and cosy. Great selection of drinks on bar. Big big compliments to the chef! the food Yorkshire tapas was to die for. We will be coming back for Sunday dinner! Lovely hosts, lovely staff. All round top pub!
