Freemasons Arms - Bedale
Freemasons Arms
Description
Nestled in a largely underserved area for vegan dining, this traditional pub impressively offers a separate vegan menu. Many dishes, including a cauliflower steak, promise much but may fall short of flavor expectations relative to their price. While some options come across as pretentiously described, diners generally appreciate the warm atmosphere and friendly service. The pub has been recently refurbished, enhancing its appeal, particularly for families and dog owners. Patrons rave about the excellent quality of food, especially the fish and chips, making this a welcoming spot for both locals and visitors alike. Reservations are recommended due to its popularity.

We had a brilliant out the blue meal here last night! Happened to be driving past late and managed to arrive just in time for food still being serviced. Some of the best pub fish and chips we’ve had a side of curry sauce included very much welcomed! Great service and great atmosphere. Wish I had my dog with me as it’s very dog friendly. Will definitely be returning when next driving through! Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Fish and Chips with Peas

The best Sunday lunch I’ve had in a long time. Staff were great and the pub is dog friendly. Excellent all round.

Went to the Freemasons for the first time for an early dinner today. The staff were really welcoming and professional and the bar and restaurant area is full of character and the atmosphere is very relaxed and dogs are welcome in the bar area. My wife had Rarebit with Tomato Chutney for a starter and Mushroom Risotto for her Main Course. I had Croquille St Jacque to start and Ox Cheek Bougignon for my Main. It was all beautifully cooked and easily the best meal we've had in a pub for years a different standard altogether from the other pubs we've visited in the surrounding area. The menu had plenty of vegetarian and gluten free options too and was easy to read and understand the information about allergens. All in all a fabulous meal in a lovely, characterful pub, with friendly, professional staff who made you feel welcome. Thanks to all at the Freemasons and hopefully see you soon x Price per person: £60–70 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
