We had to wait a bit in the rush, but after that everything was perfect. The pulled pork is highly recommended, and the local IPA is also very tasty. And lovely in the sun.
Most enjoyable dinner we had in three weeks around France! This little place is unpretentious and fun. The menu is short, and changes regularly to highlight what's in season. Service was very friendly and every bit of our meal was plate-licking delicious. Book ahead, though, as they fill up quickly!
Great people and amazing food. This is not catering to tourists. The menu is in French and the staff speaks limited English. We have limited French but had no problem communicating. We arrived and they were full. They offered to seat us in an hour and call our cell phone when a table opened. Our cell phone was not activated and upon understanding that, they sat us at the back table and made space. Wonderful and very nice for them accommodating us. The food is very farm to table and everything is seasonal and local. There was not beef bourguignon and other tourist dishes but instead we had local sausage with egg, toasted brioche with sliced cured ham, and confit fish w/ tomatoes, followed by fish and a veal dish. Dessert was a cherry pie (closer to a tart) which had all the pits but was so yummy and the pits are not an issue. The meal was fresh, wonderfully executed, and enjoyable. In a city with too many touristy places, this is so refreshing. A little french countryside in Beaune.
The mint façade of 10 Rue d 'Alsace belongs to Les Pôpiettes, a trendy wine bar and restaurant in the center of Beaune. You can 't miss it. It came highly recommended by our B&B hosts who also suggested we make a reservation because the place gets booked, thanks to the talented chef Giada Scarton and the innovative spin she puts on quintessential Burgundian cuisine. It was our first dinner in Beaune. We were still high on the excitement of finally being in Burgundy to enjoy all the wonderful food and wine. We chose the tasting menu, which was reasonably priced and gave us the option of choosing one entrée (which is a starter in France and Europe), one main course, and a dessert. Everything was fantastic! Traditional dishes with an inspired twist that brings this into a modern day sophistication and yet the restaurant is open, welcoming, and comfortable.
