Whenever we go for vacation to t... read more We are visiting this charming pizza restaurant I guess for over decade initially found (pre internet) on directions of a local. Whenever we go for vacation to the south of France or Spain we have our overnight stop in Beaune A decade ago this Cave’s...pizza was more or less our reference pizza since quality was excellent. During dining we observed the many locals waiting in line picking up their pizza’s. This year we went again to France on vacation and traditionally we visited the Cave again, I didn’t order the signature Cave St Jacques salad with coquilles since last year the salad wasn’t as good as it use to be. The warm coquilles tasted like rubber. This year we ordered again a 4 fromage pizza. Now the quality is just average. (example the poor parmesan topping was definitely not made of freshly shaved cheese). Aldough the owner is friendly as foreigner you have to specifically asked for a jug of water (free) otherwise a bottle water will be served. Bottom line what we see is a friendly owner but the restaurant get worse and worse year after year. It’s a pity since we like the place let’s hope this restaurant can find way up again.

Quant and charming for a local pizza joint. Cold beer, but no selection, passable wine by the glass. Pizza ok, but watery. Found...it interesting that even a clearly local, takeaway pizza place served escargot, eggs meurette, parsley ham, beef bourguignon. Apparently it's required on every menu. Can't speak to the fancier dishes since we stuck with pizza. At the end of the day were still happy to have a simple acceptable pizza and beer.

The pizza whic... read more Each time we go to Beaune, at least yearly, we visit Caveau Saint-Jacques. The owner is very, very personable. From year to year he remembers us. The pizza which we normally have is consistent; unchanging over time which is what we want. The wine recommendations...of the owner are always accepted by us and never regretted. The price-quality ratio is excellent. We hope to go again.
