Charming little restaurant in Beacon, NY. It’s quiet and cozy, located in a quaint small town filled with lovely people.
The service was incredibly slow, and what little service there was left much to be desired. The coffee is self-serve. The food was only mediocre at best. They market themselves as a soul food restaurant, but that feels more like a joke. I wouldn't recommend this place.
I've been waiting for my food for about an hour now. The air conditioning was off, making the entire place hot and it had an unpleasant smell of old fish. I'm not sure what has happened to this restaurant. Three years ago, I wrote a positive review, but today I have to change it to one star due to the terrible service. They told me it would be ready in 5 minutes half an hour ago. If you're hungry, I recommend finding a different place.
My partner and I came on Memorial Day weekend and enjoyed our lunch here. We ordered chicken and waffles and the fish and chips and both were great, especially the waffle. Our two minor complaints were that the fish and chips didn’t come with tartar sauce and the chicken could have been seasoned a little more, but I am giving them some grace for only having 2-3 ish staff members during a holiday weekend. Overall good, would recommend!
