The service was good and the menu imaginative. The food was good too, though a little more expensive than some of the other restaurants in Bayreuth.

Last week, a starter salad with an impressive dressing, duck breast(Could have been a mite crispier- but full of flavour) with potato dumpling well rounded orange sauce and red cabbage.Sweet was choc and fruit home made parfait- tasty,

I 'm not only used to... read more Hello, Here are my impressions of our first visit to Dötzer 's Restaurant. I was curious, but unfortunately, my expectations weren 't met. I 'm not only used to it, but I also appreciate the complimentary amuse-bouche at the beginning. It gives you time (even in a group to settle in and start a conversation. Unfortunately, it was missing on this visit. The service was friendly, but too quick for my liking when taking our drink and food orders. I would have appreciated more time as a guest (see arrival . Seating: The table was large enough for seven people to have the desired amount of space. However, sitting right by the exit (terrace was unfortunate. The curtains weren 't closed by guests leaving the restaurant, so we were sitting in the cold every time someone left. The Food: My order was for half a goose (it was on the menu ! I was a bit confused when the server brought me a quarter goose. One should know their menu, point out a mistake, and not try to cover it up. I was allowed to try a piece of the duck (set menu , but I had expected the goose to be of a different quality. I also have to question the claim that the dumplings were made in-house. There are many very positive reviews here, which I 'm happy for the owner, but they don 't reflect my experience. The competition never sleeps, and there 's plenty of it in Bayreuth.

Sure, things are tight before Christmas, but why I had to explain twice to the unfriendly woman on the phone that I wanted to pick up my order instead of making... read more Sure, things are tight before Christmas, but why I had to explain twice to the unfriendly woman on the phone that I wanted to pick up my order instead of making a reservation is beyond me. Even though the menu asks for phone orders, they then expect me to send an email. I could have easily done that on their day off, Sunday and Monday. I'm not their secretary, and I'll spend €30 per food pickup somewhere where they still understand who's a service provider and who's a paying customer, not a supplicant.
