I was awaiting a check-in to my hotel, so this central spot seemed ideal for a quick bite of lunch. The waitress spent ten minutes ignoring me, then seemed astonished when I asked for a menu. The Caesar salad, when it finally arrived, was perfectly fine, but I then had to spend another quarter of an hour attempting to get the bill (from a different waiter). Lovely position next to grand old theatre. Sat here in glorious sunshine next to a prominently displayed menu board with various quite interesting dishes. Surly waitress said that they weren't serving any of those dishes or the featured gâteau basque aux agrumes but I could have a pancake. I chose the pancake with salted caramel. This arrived quickly and slightly reheated (presumably by microwave) with a drizzle of salted caramel. Not an experience worth having. There are so many lovely places to eat in Bayonne that I would avoid this other than for coffee or a beer.

The Caesar salad, when it finally arrived, was perfectly fine, but I then had to spend another quarter of an hour attempting to get the bill (from a different waiter). It's perhaps the only time in my life I've seriously thought of just walking away without paying... And it wasn't just my experience - a couple at the next table got overcharged in their bill - and had to spend 15 minutes trying to get the correct one. So, location great and the food was fine, but this was some of the worst service I've had anywhere.
Popped in for lunch - the food was great (and local), the service was excellent and there was a really nice atmosphere - will be back next time in Bayonne
We had salmon something (some fancy french name) for entré which only consisted of 2 slices of cold smoked salmon served with a spoonful of - I guess -
We stopped for lunch and had fish of the day. It was a trio of tuna, salmon and a king prawn. All were overcooked. Having said that the sauce and slightly vinegar Ed cabbage was very tasty. Service was ok, neither bad nor fabulous. The...view is the best thing about this place.
