Sammy's Grill Central - Baton Rouge

We always order fried eggplant food because it is so delicious and large enough for two or three people. Also, Sammy's allows you to order the lunch size duck at any time, so people with smaller appetite can get the amount they want even during the evening hours. The fried or boiled seafood is always delicious. Service is always great, the servers expect your beverage refill requests. On our last trip to Sonny's we were happy enough to find Brisket Nachos as an appetizer special. We had tried Sonny's brisket before and liked it so that we ordered the nachos. When it arrived, we found a plate of crispy, beautifully spiced chips with a generous amount of brisket scales. The bride has a good smokey taste and is not too dry or too fat. This was covered with cut jalapenos, cheese and diced tomatoes and green onions. I am not a big fan of paprika and removed it from my share, but found that they leave a pleasant jalapeno taste without burning. My husband stretches paprika and could have a disc with each chip. Serving was generous for two and we almost did not finish when the rest of our meal appeared. We chose grilled fish, and it was well cooked, slightly seasoned and always a reliable choice at Sammy's. Our server was attentive and made sure our drinks were full.

This we found at the bottom of 5 lbs. of crawfish to go... Not good for business. Hadn't been in a while but was very surprised, not as I remember

Has drastically improved. It has been stopped for years because of evil food and bad service, but they have made a change and for the better. The staff was very friendly, the manager checked us several times. Food was really good and well cooked and hot. Had a custom drink from the bar and was best iv had of this type. Dessert was amazing. More I can say when they keep this up, I see a bright future so lets hope they stay on the way. Parts have also increased since my last visit. Especially on Gator and Dessert.

The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly attentive, but it's just not a place I would revisit. The food was okay... It was not fabulous, wonderful or unforgettable... It was just okay...
