very good wels. drilling and tears were good, but would like more seasoned. spit a bit with spices, but could not go to the taste I wanted. my daughter really liked the boudin, but also wanted it more spicy. kartoffelsalat was good. my son also liked the jambalaya. great customer service. What User doesn't like about Rice And Roux:
Food was not what I expected at all. There was little to no flavor and a lot of rice .. like way More rice than meat. I was expecting it to be flavorful spice .. it was none of that . I could have come out better making this at home View all feedback.
I have not been let down by anything on the menu yet!! The employees and their customer service smiling faces are ALWAYS delightful and welcoming! I would and do recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a delicious meal that everyone will love and is also affordable.
My partner and I decided to grab some southern Cajun cooking prior to heading back to Texas. We stopped in Rice Roux which is pretty much a hole in the wall. Nothing fancy about this place, but the food sure is good for the price. For under $15 you can get a sampler of jambalaya, gumbo, a dinner side, a dinner roll, drink and one entree. I had a sampler combo #2 with the boudin. It was pretty tasty but my favorite had to be the gumbo; perfectly seasoned and the meat was blended well. If I do come back it sure will be for the gumbo. My partner loved his red beans and rice! Overall, if you are in this area and want a taste of Cajun this is a perfect spot to stop by and fix your cravings.
I liked this place. The staff is friendly and the food is good. I enjoyed the seafood gumbo. I felt it had a good amount of crab meat and a nice flavor. The bread was not fresh, but the gumbo was good without it. The tea was fresh and made right. Nice little place!
I was prepared for what I got because I read the reviews before coming here. These are not POC catering to POC. The food is very bland. I asked the very polite young man at the register for a small container and took some, Slap yo Momma with me. I suggest you do the same, you'll thank me. Good portions but I'm confused about the potato salad, it's more of a mashed potato dish. All in all I'd probably not return but it was good in a pinch on my way to NOLA.
One of our favorite places and a visit when we are in Baton Rouge. Love the Pastalaya, but everything is good. The prices are so reasonable, my Nabeby got the small red beans and rice with one side potato salad last time for $4.99! Lots of food, still remains and even better the next day.
