One of the best small local eateries in Baton Rouge. Daily menu changes though so always make sure you look before pulling up expecting the same thing two days in a row View all feedback.
What R doesn't like about Bergeron's City Market:
Saw it on WBRZ and decided to drop in... IMHO... it reminds me of California... light on oil, butter, grease and excessive seasonings. BUT I like mine, double buttered, heavy on the seasonings and piping hot! So, for that reason... it's good. If you're a senior, this is IT! If you like Piccadilly, it's five stars! Honestly, it's just ok. Nice atmosphere, tho. View all feedback.
This place is a hidden gem. And a bargain. It’s usually around $13 or so for an entree and 2 sides. The entrees are always big enough for me to make 2 meals out of, too. Last time I got fast food my meal was $11.50. This is a no-brainer for me. Much rather have good quality homemade food than a greasy burger. I like their frozen pre-made meals too. Crab and eggplant casserole is probably my favorite. Great desserts.
Excellent food. Plenty of choice and all af them great. Great gumbo. Come and time for lunch or take some home
The best as always. Love seafood Fridays! Definitely get what you pay for (and a little more).
I can 't believe it 's taken me this long to review Don 's. I 've been going to Don 's for about ten years since they were over by Capital Heights. It 's amazing that in ten years I 've only ever had great experiences...they 're truly that consistent. Don is dedicated to quality and excellent service. It 's great food for a great price. I was very happy to go yesterday and and still get a plate of chef quality food for $11 at a time when a McDonalds meal will run you $10 or the chow mein and chicken from 'the cheap Chinese food ' place just cost me $12. Don 's deserves to be at the top of the rotation.
I was impressed again with my food at Bergeron's City Market. I had the fried fish and fried shrimp. The breading/batter on my shrimp was a little clumped up in a few areas of the shrimp, like they were ganged up in the fry basket, but the texture and flavor was very good. The fish had a corn meal batter which was crispy and seasoned just right. I liked the two different batters, corn meal for the fish, flour for the shrimp. My sides were cabbage which had greens and sausage in it. The cabbage was fresh and not over done. The macaroni and cheese was obviously homemade with a Béchamel sauce, and spiral noodles. I generally always get the tossed Green salad, which is in a creamy vinaigrette. I added a little salt for my taste. The shrimp creole was good. It was homemade and had a great taste. The bland white rice really stole from the red gravy flavor. I will say again the dish was good. It was so good, I bought some of the same red sauce for the house. These are only small things I thought of while posting this. The stuffed bell pepper had a crawfish stuffing which had gobs of crawfish. It was all thriller and not much filler. The bread pudding was excellent. I will be back !! I enjoy having fresh homemade food ready to eat !!! And even bought Togo stuff to cook at the house I forgot to mention the homemade tartar sauce is zippy and I love it ! The cocktail sauce was great too !!!
