Dixie Lee - Bathurst
Dixie Lee
Description
Dixie Lee offers a mixed bag of experiences, from cold food to friendly service. Flavors can be hit or miss, especially in comparison to other locations. Inconsistent quality and recipe adherence make it a less popular choice among loyal franchise supporters. Prices are budget-friendly, but portion sizes and quality vary. Despite some negatives, many appreciate the fresh-cut fries and flavorful chicken. The location near Water Street is convenient for a quick and affordable meal. Overall, while some find it lacking, others believe it to be the best of the Maritimes, with delicious food and outstanding service.

The salads were excellent, and the staff was friendly, but the chicken was a disappointment. It was undercooked, the batter was soggy and dripping, so we had to air-fry it when we got home. After 10 minutes in the air fryer, it tasted like I remember Dixie Lee used to taste. One of us ate it as it was and ended up getting really sick. The poutine sauce was incredibly salty; we had to add a lot of ketchup just to make it edible. I've tried five different Dixie Lee locations in my life, and this was definitely the worst experience I've had.
UPDATE: The fish served here is NOT haddock as described. According to the chef, they are serving cheap “paddock” instead. This is unacceptable! The fish was raw. Even after we complained, the replacement order was still undercooked. The woman at the front of house, who was incredibly friendly and provided excellent customer service, immediately refunded our meal. She even offered to refund the entire order, but since the fries and drinks were good, we decided to pay for those.
The food was decent, but the clams seemed like they were cooked with the fries and ended up all mixed together. The fish was nothing special. On a positive note, the wings and chicken were quite good. However, I don’t think it was worth the $120 (around $160 with the tip). I won’t be ordering from there again.
Very friendly staff but that’s about it. Ordered a small regular poutine to take home and when I opened it I was surprised on how little it was for an almost $9 poutine. Sad because it tasted really good but the lack of product does not equal to the price. Like what the heck. Very disappointed. Don’t think I can bring myself to go back again. Too expensive. Geez.
