This was a return visit after a busy day out. We knew it had recently been refurbished and how nice and clean it was. The staff were most attentive and the choices on the menu were amazing. Too much to choose from really. We both settled for the seniors fish meal and it could not be faulted. Well done. We wont wait so long before our next visit. Keep up the good work. View all feedback.
What Jack Hughes doesn't like about The Fat Friar Batheaston:
I went to pick up food and when I got home, I realized that half of my order was missing. I am very unhappy about this. I will be returning to Oldfields instead. I can't even taste the new potatoes because they were not included in my bag. View all feedback.
Always fantastic fresh fish and chips, have used this restaurant many times and have never been disappointed. The service is exelent , very quick and efficient, have totally got the order, pay, collect social distancing thing sorted.
Fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. A bag of chips to share on the green across the road. Lovely place, covid restrictions currently in place making us feel safe. Service was quick and chips were delicious. Highly recommend

Tasty gluten free fish and chips available at Robbies Plaice in Batheaston. Full 4* review at coeliacwellNES.com
We ordered over the phone at half 6, ordering 2 cod and chips and another bag of chips, and we was told that it would be a 45 minute wait and to arrive at 7:15, but reassured that phone orders would be prioritised.I arrived at 7:15 and due to social distancing measures, I was told to wait out in the car park and my food would be brought to me shortly.I ended up waiting for 45 minutes while walk in orders were quickly served before me. Not only did they forget my order, several other customers were also waiting just as long as me. I had to prompt the man bringing out the orders twice as they had clearly forgotten me again and weren’t prioritising my order as I was promised and when I spoke the them several times they didn’t apologise at all for keeping waiting.I understand that this is a difficult time and the business has had to adapt to adhere to social distancing measures and I’ll admit that there measures were well done. However these measures have been in place for a few weeks now and these issues should of been ironed out.It was a shame as I have heard good things about this place and now my first visit will always be tainted by the memory of this wait.
