While many patrons rave about the attentive service, delicious meals, and cozy atmosphere, others have faced frustrations with cold food and inadequate service. Highlights include tender roasts, exceptional gammon steaks, and friendly staff that create a welcoming environment. However, issues like poorly prepared dishes and inconsistent temperatures have raised eyebrows, prompting some to question the establishment’s accolades. Overall, the restaurant appeals to those seeking a pleasant dining experience, though potential visitors may want to choose their dishes and timing wisely.
We had breakfast and dinner in this restaurant for 3 days and found the service and food very good. The staff were friendly polite and it was a pleasure to be in their company. The tables and chairs were good quality and chairs very comfortable. Overlooking the golf course the whole experience was very pleasurable in such nice surroundings. The best gammon steak I have ever tasted which I enjoyed two days running.
Nice staff, resturaunt, food, and surroundings, not happy about gratuaty charge automatically added to bill.,
We had our annual January 'Christmas ' meal here on Saturday evening 23 of us in total. We preordered our food and, as ever, it was superb. The quality of the food here never disappoints which is why we come back year after year. The staff are incredible attentive and friendly and very efficient. The organisation of the evening meant everything went like clockwork. Thanks and see you again next year!
It's not the cheapest place around the area, but neither is it the most expensive. It offers a real restaurant experience and not a posh bar feel. The tables are well spaced and even big parties did not interfere with out quiet evening. The food was exceptional and the service was excellent
The food at this restaurant was served cold on cold plates, which was disappointing, especially when it came to the fish dish. After sending it back to the kitchen, it came back the same way. I ultimately refused to pay for it. The peas, if that's what they were, were in a small pot and seemed to have been microwaved, making them look like chaff and crumbly. The fish appeared to have been precooked and then warmed up, a big mistake when it comes to fish. Even the chips were cold, all served on a freezing cold plate. It seems like the chef may need retraining. It's puzzling how they received a fancy star rating.
