Bates City -b-q

I was parked at the new Love's truck stop. Wanted something different and was told this place was good. Google said it was a 12 min walk. I made the journey, and the food proved to be well worth every step. Very friendly, honest, and helpful staff. The meat had a perfect smoked flavor. The sauce was not too sweet, and they didn't smother the meat in the sauce either. There just enough on there for flavor but a whole bottle at the table so that you could add to your liking. I highly recommend this place and will make the walk any time I am parked at this truck stop. I just hope the city will consider adding a safe walkway across the interstate so that more truckers can safely make this walk.

Eating was great, serving size more than sufficient, and just a nice little place to enjoy your meal. As a young man (workers) patiently help an older couple in the doors, the employees were friendly. Would stop.

Wow, great food. brisket is very good as burned end. the price is also very pleasant. I enjoyed this restaurant very and often come back!

Me and my wife are currently visiting family, and we're from south Florida. We're staying in Sedalia so we drove an hour to come out to Bates City BBQ. We both really enjoyed it, got the ribs and a burnt ends sandwich and fries. Spent around $33 and it was a lot of food. Really good quality, better than what I can get back home for sure. Looked better than all the BBQ places in Sedalia and it was closer than all the Kansas City restaurants. Definitely worth trying.

Passing through the area on a coast to coast drive, I got hungry at just the right time to look up great food in the area. I decided to go with Bates City BBQ. What a great decision that was. The service was quick, the employees where friendly, and the food? In a word, delicious. Well worth your time if you want some KC style BBQ. And it was quite affordable! I absolutely recommend this establishment!
