We were so happy we decided to have lunch at this charming pop-up café. The staff was friendly and provided excellent service, and the toasties were delicious!
Great coffee and cake. Do not eat food except the picnic disc, which is sugar-free and for dying.
This restaurant may be a bit difficult to locate, but once you find it, the experience is fantastic. Parking can be a bit challenging, but there are spaces available just a short walk away. The combination of art, culture, and delicious food makes it a wonderful place to spend a few hours enjoying the sea views.
I have visited many cities with a café called The Olive Tree, and they always seem to be pretty good. This one is no exception, but the only downside is that it is only open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. My first visit was for a coffee, and the view of the Clyde River outside was stunning. The interior with artworks and comfortable lounges was equally charming. I ordered a 'ristretto ****' but was told they didn't serve ristrettos. This was a bit off-putting, but the flat white I received was excellent, and I was able to enjoy it while listening to the locals talk about a woman's latest book publication. The next day, my wife and I came back for a light lunch and ended up trying the Hamburgers, which turned out to be the best burgers we've ever had. Subsequent visits for coffee and lunch only reinforced our initial impression of this lovely, relaxed spot with a great view and a community of locals involved in the art scene. It turns out the café is only open three days a week because both the men and women who run it are writers who need time to focus on their craft.
Great coffee and cake. Haven't eaten the food except the picnic slice which is sugar free and to die for.
