We went to the bistro for lunch on Mothers Day. It was very busy but the staff got through a lot of orders and the wait was not that long surprisingly. We ordered the cook your own steaks. There was a two for one special so the value was excellent. The chef is a character. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Bay Bistro:
The duo today were great. Fab music!!Service on the other hand no one seems like they want to be here. People in the kitchen eating chips and drinking slushies. Wasn't exactly appealing. We were going to have dinner here but decided against it (10 pax)People need to lighten up a bit. Put a smile on. There was one girl who was smiling everyone else definitely put a downer on the mood.Won't be coming here in a hurry un... View all feedback.
This is the second time I have been there since new take over and I wont be going back, the first time the menu was the same from when the old owners had it, so we ordered oysters, OH sorry we don't have any, that's ok so ordered garlic prawns, went yesterday ordered oysters again Oh sorry we are just waiting for them to come in its like 1.30pm that should have been arranged by now I would have thought anyway so went to order another entrée but was left trying to think of what to get as there was nothing else really only salads and breads oh there was a salad with garlic bbq prawns so I said can I have the bbq prawns without the salad, oh no we cant do that, oh dear just gave up and had a main. It was nothing to rave about The cook your own steak section has been removed why I don't know it was so popular before, you cant see the menu properly as it is digital up on the wall towards the celling so glare comes into play and it moves to quick straight away this was put off. Yeh so anyway we are going to go back there in a hurry, its just a shame it was our local would love to just go there on a weekend for lunch or dinner even through the week, wont be back.
Little jean is tucked between the double bay library and the big woolworthsThere are a few cafes here so it is a competitive spot.
Little Jean is one of our favourite brunch spots in Double BayParking is easy with the car park for Dan Murphys and Woolworths right next door.

The Bay Bistro at The Bateau Bay Hotel was great at Easter time but when we went there a few months later in July it was dreadful! Has there been a change of staff in the Bisto or something???? If the management of this once great local pub can't get it right then they will not get the locals like my family back. We placed our orders and waited nearly an hour then when our meals finally arrived we had smelly Fish for the kids and undercooked steaks with soggy chips - we complained and they begrudgingly took our meals back but when our meals finally arrived back on our table our chips were stone cold and the steaks were overcooked! - the high prices we paid were not worth the result and disappointment! Presentation was also very ordinary. A horrible experience to say the least ... not going back ...
