We were wandering about Bastia trying to find a place far from the touristic area, as we thought we would perhaps get something more authentic and for a better price. And that's definitely what we got! Very nice food, well cooked and in a nice place. If you also want to run away from the tourist-oriented restaurants, this is an excellent option. View all feedback.
It's a nice place, nice host, and you can't complain too much when it's the only vegan place in the city although some places offer vegan options like la tomate noire . However the food was unfortunately not that great. If you've no other good food to compare it to then it does well, has a nice variety of options from around the world dhal, burger, salad, quinoa, wok dish etc. I had the dhal, unfortunately the lentils in it were not cooked at all, they were crunchy : , and smothered in cinnamon which was just too much, a little less and it could have been an interesting flavour, not a mouth numbing experience. The tofu was again smothered, instead of gently marinaded, in nutmeg or something else I'm not sure what, but there appeared to be half a jar in there as it tasted like soap, it was far too overpowering. They served the dessert alongside the plate of hot food on the edge of the plate itself that it had already melted before we were even half done with the main meal, there was also no spoon given to eat the sorbet but okay minor miss . On the other hand my friend's dish wasn't even hot you can hear the food being microwaved whilst you wait . Which okay many places use a microwave but idk would have just liked a bit more for the prices charged 15-20 eur for main meal 6 EUR for a dessert which is about a mouthful in size . I unfortunately hate to leave a not glowing review as the host was so lovely, and I respect any vegan places fully, especially in such a meat-centric place. It may be worth noting that perhaps I just don't like French food, as I wasn't especially pleased with the last place I went either! Think a place of greasy rice and raw vegetables, and a misplaced piece of meat! Portion sizes were okay though, not too small, not too big, just right!

My husband and I ate here three times as we knew that it was the only vegan place to eat in Bastia. We were not disappointed with the food but do check on their Facebook page as to their opening times. We loved the array of unusual ice creams on offer I've never had tomato and catnip flavour before! Bernard the owner/chef/waiter really made our visits a friendly and enjoyable experience. We managed to get by on our not so good French and English and all in all I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Paprika was a very special place during my visit to Bastia. Stephanie and Bernard are wonderful hosts and were very fun to talk with in broken French : In fact, I ate three meals there because every dish I tried was so incredible! I have celiac disease, so I have to eat gluten free. I ate so incredibly well because of this restaurant. My first night in Bastia, I tried the wok de la mer dish and a GF beer both so satisfying and delicious! I ordered a slice of orange cake with whipped cream and berries for dessert. I later had the stir fry and the indian daal. It was also handy to take my meals to go so I could picnic at the port or head back to my apartment. The homemade bread is a MUST try I have never, ever found gluten free bread like that in America! Do yourself a favor and check this place out, whether you are in Bastia for a visit or just passing through. The food here was one of my top highlights in Corsica :
We had lunch here before catching out flight back to Paris. Being gluten free and vegan in Corsica mostly mean PB and J sandwiches and salads made in our hotel room. It was such a treat to have eaten here before the end of our trip. The chef working there was very polite as we bumbled through with broken French trying to order. He spoke little English, which was fine by us as we actually enjoyed the challenge of conversing with a language barrier. The food was amazing, great serving size, and came with GF bread which the chef explained to us he made fresh himself! Could not have been more pleased. Great service, great food! I am a celiac and I did not get sick : A great choice for any vegans of GF people visiting Corsica!
