Beautiful original interpretations of contemporary Italian dishes flow from a diverse menu in this small intimate restaurant in a quiet street close to, but behind the old harbour, 10 minutes to foot from anywhere in the city of bastia. we were warmly welcomed and speak little. the French employees have helped us with advice and suggestions. there were several vegetarian options available under entrés, salates and netzen. the menu was so interesting and served generously. when we returned a few days later to enjoy another meal, we asked to share every cure and fortunately were given small tellers to share the meal. we didn't try their pizza, but they looked good when they went to other tables. we were amazed by the creative salads, and the pasta dishes we tried were delicious (tando huhorin, grilled sleeve leg, la norma; the latter with auberginen, mozzarella and tomaten pesto.) the baked aubergine and parmesan entré were incredibly delicious. the wee were also very balanced and pleasant. if they are tired of crowded and loud tables in tourist hotspots offer bland ubiquitous harbourside menus they would do well to have a meal in la braise and experience something else with personalized warm friendly service.

Wonderfully original interpretations of contemporary Italian dishes flow from a diverse menu in this small, intimate restaurant in a quiet street near to but behind the old port, 10 mins walk from anywhere in downtown Bastia. We were welcomed warmly and as we speak little French the staff happily helped us with advice and suggestions. There were several vegetarian options among entrés, salads and mains. The menu was so interesting and the serves generous. When we returned a few days later to enjoy another meal we asked to share each course and were happily given small plates to use to divide the meals. We did not try their pizza but they looked nice as they went by to other tables. We were amazed by the creative salads, and the pasta dishes we tried were delicious (tandoori chicken, grilled legume, a la Norma; the latter with eggplant, mozzarella and tomato pesto). The baked eggplant and Parmesan entré was incredibly tasty. The wines were very balanced and enjoyable too. When you tire of crowded and noisy tables in tourist hotspots offering bland ubiquitous harbourside menus you would do well to have a meal at La Braise and experience something different with personalised warm friendly service.
