Recent visits reveal a concerning trend: a significant portion of the menu unavailable, disappointing service, and a lack of warmth from staff. While some dishes, like halloumi fries, received praise, the overall dining experience fell short due to underwhelming food temperatures and portion sizes. Despite an attentive server who managed to provide a discount, many diners express doubt about the restaurant's future. With limited options and an uninviting atmosphere, Giraffe may soon be a chapter best forgotten in the high street dining scene.
We arrived at the restaurant only to discover that it was closing for good the following day, despite having made a reservation. This meant that half of the items on the food and drinks menu were unavailable during our visit.
Our table was cancelled at 4pm on the day of our reservation because we were told the chef was going home early. It seems that they were only covering one more table as the restaurant was closing soon. This was very disappointing and reflected poorly on the service provided.
It was clear that this restaurant is on its way to closing down soon, which would have been helpful to know before booking. More than half of the menu items were unavailable, making it difficult to order. The lack of staff led to us being asked to leave at 9:30pm on a Friday night, which was quite amusing. We weren't able to have coffee as the machine had been turned off. The only positive was the kind server who apologized and gave us a 50% discount on our bill due to the poor experience. It doesn't seem like this restaurant will be open for much longer, so I would recommend avoiding it.
Gone downhill since last visit 18 months ago. Cocktails were apparently 2 for 1 but only got offered the extra one at the end of meal when seeing 2 listed on the bill. Large piece of bone found in rodeo chicken meal. Staff member did remove from bill apologised. No atmosphere, over half of the restaurant was empty yet staff were turning tables away which seemed strange! Didn’t feel very welcome as seemed like staff wanted to get rid of customers to go home.
Negatives: A lot of items were out of stock. The food was not all hot and the portions were on the smaller side. Positives: The staff knew what was and was not available. Everyone was pleased with their choices.
