Early midweek supper and there was no parking outside, but there's a decent sized parking lot round the back and a back entrance through the hotel so you don't have to go right round. Waiting staff were attentive and charming. Goan fish curry was delicious, though it could have done with a bit more sauce. Fishcake with packed egg was also delicious. One small niggle is that the lighting is so subdued we struggled to... View all feedback.

We had lunch to celebrate a family birthday. The service was average at best but worse was that Hot pies on the outside were cold on the inside and mushy peas were served cold. People on the table next to us had the same issues,...can't believe it. View all feedback.
I visited this highly-rated gastropub for the first time with high expectations. Unfortunately, several items we wanted to order were not available on the menu, which we were informed after placing our order. We ended up choosing the fish and chips, but were disappointed to find the mushy peas were solid and dried out. The waitress kindly exchanged them for us and also offered us sauces to go with our meal.
Thank you to the team at The Wellington Arms, we celebrated my Mother-In-Laws birthday here recently and it was great. We held our wedding party here back in January everything went so well it was decided to book again for for the party....Lindsay was great to work with and ensured all questions were answered quickly, on the day nothing was too much trouble for the team and the food was great. Rooms are comfortable and well decorated. Would highly recommend for a wedding or party. Thanks again.
Firstly I have many good experiences with the food at the Wellington Arms, however not so last Sunday. It was the first time we tried Sunday dinner (for our Wedding Anniversary) where the cost didn't justify the serving. The cauliflower cheese side order for four of us) was simply a joke for each! Two bits of cauliflower in a small side order dish, dry and not really detecting any cheese sauce (don't bother). Main food arrived before the first drink order (so one was quick food, drinks order was slow)..but the food was at our table within Portion size roast potato's one carrot one Yorkshire pudding (dry) red cabbage and two slices of beef (the beef was ok). Otherwise the ambiance decor and outside is all good. Staff are friendly, although asking for the bill, took way longer (asked twice). We skipped sweet, and went to a shop instead to buy! for four adults and child.. overpriced for quality and quality. Returning to Wellington is a sure thing but NOT for Sunday roast.. Message to the management (since you didn't respond to my internal review) my reviews are objective to give you an opportunity to do better. Your staff are very friendly, but on this occasion, uncoordinated (food before arrival drinks). Asking how food was is just a tick in the box (not authentic).. asking for bill was asked twice apart.. but the kitchen should rethink the menu portion sizes and if your going to up sell sides, make sure they are worth the extra! I actually think Roast should come with a good portion of cauliflower Cheese and parsnips plus more potatoes..! Over deliver and exceed customer expectations seem easy to do with small improvements!

Hosted or sons wedding here. With all of the post challenges behind us we expected it to be plain sailing. Along came the three storms and the power went out four days before the wedding day. Panic stations! Needless to say, Lindsay was amazing...and the staff worked tirelessly to ensure the wedding went ahead as planned. It was touch and go for a while, as the power didn't come back on until the day before the big day. We needn't have doubted though because the whole day was perfect. A beautiful venue that is intimate, yet classy and an ideal location. Many of the wedding party booked rooms and they were of a very high standard and really comfortable. I cannot thank the staff enough and would recommend the Wellington Arms without hesitation.
