We were driving near Basingstoke when we needed somewhere for lunch. I googled for somewhere nearby and this Dummer restaurant came up. What a fantastic find. A bit off the beaten track but SO GOOD! The staff were absolutely lovely, obviously enjoy their job and the food is good wholesome English fare and very reasonably priced. . The atmosphere was very relaxed and enjoyed by young and old. We would certainly return whenever in the area.
I love going here! So relaxed and such good food real home comforts …. and seriously good cake. They often hold workshops too. I've only managed one so far and I went on my own but was made to feel so welcome
Went with my partner for an impromptu lunch. Partner asked for cheese on toast rather than Welsh rarebit and this was no problem to Sash. He thoroughly enjoyed it. I had a chicken, bacon and salad wrap with no mayonnaise and again Sash produced a divine wrap. Builders tea for the man and an Earl Grey tea for me. Partner also indulged in a slice of delicious ginger cake. This place never disappoints and food is always freshly prepared to order.
Dropped in here fir lunch on a very hot day. Trying to lose weight so had jacket potato with tuna which was delicious. Chose Earl Grey tea. Partner had a chicken and bacon panini. This place never disappoints. Food is always good and you are well looked after by Sadh and her staff.
Popped by today as in the area and so glad we did. So tranquil and we both felt chilled and relaxed afterwards. We only sampled soft drinks, a (large) slice of Carrot Cake and a crumbly cookie but everything delicious. Had a browse around the little shop which has lots of tempting and unusual gifts. We then went on a long dog walk (the café is dog friendly) before returning for more soft drinks. Sash, the owner, couldn't have been more welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely visit again.
Nestled in a tranquil spot, this charming eatery offers a relaxed atmosphere perfect for lunch or afternoon tea. While the menu features comforting options like Stilton and broccoli soup, guests have noted long wait times for food and drinks. The friendly staff, led by enthusiastic owner Sash Newman, strive to create a welcoming environment for all, including pets. The café also showcases delightful baked goods and a selection of local crafts. With plans for an alcohol license and ample space for groups, this hidden gem promises a refreshing escape, even if some items may not meet every diner’s expectations.

We had a lovely and relaxing brunch at the newly renovated Worting House. The new setting is stunning, with spring bulbs blooming in the grounds. The café is tastefully decorated and we received excellent service from our friendly young waitresses. The brunch menu offers many interesting options. We tried the poached egg and avocado on sourdough, as well as the bacon and egg French toast, both of which were delicious. We can't wait to try more items on the menu during our next visit.
Popped in for lunch after a dog walk...love that they are dog friendly. Ordered Stilton and broccoli soup which was lovely. However, a REALLY long wait for both drinks and food! Would have been good if they had forewarned us we would be waiting, and then we could have decided whether to stay or not. Didn’t bother complaining because the people behind us who did complain just got excuses (busy/lots of people etc) and no real apology. Shame...
I visited this restaurant with some friends earlier this week. It's a nice hidden gem, although they will be moving closer to town next year. The coffee wasn't the best, but the large jars of cookies more than made up for it. The prices were reasonable too. There is plenty of space, making it ideal for larger groups to gather. I would definitely return again.
Really lovely staff and nice food, I would recommend this cafe for a snack and a hot or cold drink and cake
Took my partner’s daughter here after she had kindly shampooed my carpets for me. I had a panini and she had a toastie and we shared a pot of tea which gave us two mugs each. It was the usual good value but am looking forward to the opening of the new place at Worting House.
