a new discovery for us (prompted by Basel Tourism) and a great positive surprize. Nice quiet streetside location with outside tables, Friendly helpful service and interesting menu. We took the surprize 3 course menu very nicely prepared and presented and very enjoyable. Great place for a casual eveming meal. Short but interesting wine list . Takes bookings. View all feedback.
What Claudia Roca doesn't like about Restaurant Zum Onke:
we were registered as a group of 25 pers. and all had the same 3-speed-menu, which was rather expensive, for that purpose seasonal and regional. so far, but we noticed on the map that the same menu was offered there for 10.- less. eir filled the bude, the kitchen was able to plan exactly and were ripped off. 25 people who will certainly never be there anymore. This place is one of the best brunch locations in Basel. Totally recommend Cosy interiors, tables outside (very nice in the summer) and friendly service.
We booked for 7 people, unfortunately one person couldn't make it and we were charged the whole price for the menu for the missing person! They actually put the extra plate of food on the table. The food was good but it's also expensive and we were shocked about this kind of treating the customer. even after talking to them about it there was no understanding, the only answer we got was sorry we have a 24 h cancellation policy...
High! extremely good food, beautifully presented, very warm atmosphere, attentive, professional serve, beautiful, fine wine card! we are happy to come back!
